    As basic as possible

    Something like this dude -

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/flatbed-2nd-gens.824293/

But I'd want to add something to the edges (like a slotted insert or the sort) to be able to slide in some square or rectangular tube in case I need to keep something boxed in or strap down on top

Although I still see ads pop up for that one brand that @JKO1998 linked over a year ago for a DIY kit

Maybe I should look at that again

I was just going to ask, the original plan is for it to be all your own design?

Just looking at the kit I mentioned, it sells you the parts so yeah huge pass

It'll be my own design it seems

I was only interested cause I thought it was a DXF file pack for cutting your own parts - I would only be interested in the mounting points themselves

After that, it's just a square frame with crossmembers

I do like the idea of breaking up the diamond plate into two or three sections with hide-away hinges. This would allow you to create a pocket of storage to put stuff in under the flat bed surface itself.

@Speedytech7 You mentioned making your own flatbed, and I know your bed has been off several times

Did you already model up some mounts? If so, I would be happy to buy said files (just the mounts) :anonymous:

Plan to keep with mild steel

I do have a spoolgun along with argon but I'd rather skip going that route

Don't like working with aluminum

    For sure

I had remembered wrong and thought that they sold DXF plans themselves, not actual parts which I don't want

Interesting to see Donut media did a revisit last week to their High/Low (expensive vs cheap) 1st gen Tacoma builds from a few years back, and that they've learned about the issues anyone here could've predicted on day 1 lol

Don't watch them anymore, but seems like they finally brought on a guy that actually knows a thing or two. He naturally got talked over half the time, but at least theres someone there to right some wrongs.

I have not, are you putting one on? I was always back and forth on them because I would carry things up top on a rack, but I do that less and less now, so I'd possibly give one a go. My thing is that I love the visibility out of the rear with the shell and windoors or with nothing at all, I'm not sure how I'd like the soft top in that regard.
I'm about to sell my shell and rack, and another bed rack I've had sitting, to start over, so who knows.

This is mine. One of my better decisions. Lightweight and flexible. I can see out of the back clear curtain. The sides fold up. The whole thing can fold up to the front if I need to carry something tall.
