Thank you for already posting this! I was going to ping you to ask about your ride. What a weekend for it too, weather was perfect. Keep me posted if you do it again next year.

So for those who don't know about the PMC and the route, you need to leave ass crack o dawn Sunday AM, so you are through the sand dunes early before they turn into an easy bake oven. If you leave later, you go through there mid day and get roasted like a Thanksgiving Turducken.

 I was actually thinking "Hmm, what about internal routing eventually...." and started looking into it, and ran into that basic info. It's aero, but a PITA, and I'm not here to win races so oh well. Looks a little silly, but I like quirky. Not to the level of an Aztek but still....

I could do a Di2 shifter and hydro lines are pretty solid, so not worried if I DO go that route, but yeah a headset would be a pain in the balls to do.

It was an awesome weekend! Saturday, it was 55 at the start and only warmed up to around 75ish. Sunday was warm, not much cover once you hit the outer Cape.
You also have to be over the Bourne bridge by 6 or 6:30. I got to Mass Maritime (the start line), got my bag checked in at 4:30 and had nothing else to do but get after it.
It’s an incredible event, they’ve raised over a billion dollars since they started. The volunteers are awesome, the aid stations were all a party. Great atmosphere the whole weekend. Caught the ferry back to Boston at the end and got to see some whales to cap off the weekend.

Going to be in Nanaimo, BC for a day in September waiting for a seaplane hop home. Anyone have an idea where to rent a mountain bike there before I call a shop or two?

The only rentals I can find in Nanaimo proper are ebike / city bike type rentals.

if you go onto trailforks, you can see the shops and their proximities to you. you shoudl be able to filter down from there.

Yeah, I've been cruising their web pages and no luck so far in terms of any listing "rentals". Just got your text though and hadn't seen Oak Bay yet.

Edit: OB is in Victoria, which is a ways south.

I photographed the shed enduro this weekend. I hadn’t ridden a ton there before the race but knew it was a technical riding area. Man it’s so sick. Kind of my ideal riding, fast but not super fast unless you want it to be but still super technical. So much fun! If anyone is nearby you should definitely check it out.

Those are chubs. The only good thing about catching them is that you can say you weren't skunked because you caught something :D

I haven't installed Cush Core but I have installed Vittoria Air Liner Lites (marginally harder than installing tubes). My go to tool for tough installs is Pedro's Downhill Tire levers.

i have broken at least 4 pedros regular levers trying to install cush core. i'll have to get a pair of the downhill levers or the lever cush core makes.

That’s what I got for the rear. Krypto, DH, soft. They’ve been bomb proof in the past for me as well. Good rolling, reasonable weight, right amount of predictable grip and slip for a rear tire.
Never got along with the dissector. Wore out fast, wasn’t particularly fast rolling.
I’m not sold on radials for the rear, but they sure do feel great as a front.
As a side note, I can’t seem to find the MM gravity super soft. Seems like it’s out of stock everywhere. Hopefully the next restock will include the tacky Chan in radial.
That Cush core lever is my go-to for all tire installs now. Get it.

I haven't tried it at all on either MTB or road bike, tubes or tubeless. Just found out about it.

I've had good luck with just plastic tire levers I get with tubes. I have about 2 dozen of them in my toolbox now, I think I've broken 2 over the past couple years.

After a walk out of the woods when I sliced my tire (admittedly, I let the sealant dry but the slice was so huge, no sealant would've sealed it), I decided to install these on all my bikes. I still have a couple of bikes to go (I may even put it on my big bike). The primary reason is to be able to ride back even with a flat. Only 50 grams.

Beaufort Bikes in Cumberland does rentals. But its an hour + north. Although trails are super close to the shop which would save time. If you need to stay close to Nam, call the shops. They might do demos which for your purposes would be the same thing.

Mine was so little the hook was barely in his mouth. Got it up close enough to look at him and then he fell off about a foot from my face.
