I think I pretty much know the answer, but since we're all about great financial advice.....

I'm debating on switching out my topper for one with functional side windows/doors.

Found a great price but it's steel..... it would be another maintenance item as far as rust-proofing.

    https://bangeroverland.com/products/banger-mk-2?variant=42757359042671

Aluminum options are easily 4k and up but the weight savings and less maintenance would be awesome.

Thinking of trying out the Leer dealership and seeing if they can just swap out the windows on my fiberglass one. Truly love that it's color matched.

Just needs windoors and a roof rack.

Weight and cosmetics are not my thing... but spending money is. 4k is just a pittance. Spend with a clear conscience knowing you could easily spend four times that (hanging with this crew...)

If you really like the cap you have, I think it's definitely worth looking into customizing it.

If you can change out the windows on your existing topper I would do that as it’s cheap and easy.
The Banger topper looks like a copy of the RSI Smartcap in a lot of ways.
I have the Smartcap and you are welcome to check it out. It’s stainless steel but a lower grade that is still Ferris.
I was looking at the GFC topper and while I like the lower weight and translucent roof it was expensive to get installed. Either drive to the factory in Montana or pay for shipping to Kansas City.
I had the Smartcap shipped to the dock at work and assembled it myself. That wasn’t bad with a little help.

As far as I know, my truck hasn't lost any parts. I did recheck bolts after bouncing around Colorado, though. Strangely, I did see some parts missing fluid film.
