I wish someone would have told me that Windows 11 forces the taskbar to the bottom and doesn't let users move it to the top. I'd have sooner quit my job than let them push the Windows 11 update if I had known.

I switched to Mac years ago, and have to use windows 10/11 at work. It is absolute garbage dude. I hate the layout, I hate how it’s trying to integrate so many different features.. I don’t need the weather and news widgets, there’s the fucking internet for that..

Windows XP is and forever will be the GOAT.

Long time no see. North Maine Woods trip this weekend, you in?

I have Linux at home. It's an email machine, I don't need anything more than that, and Windows has been shenanigans for a while. Linux used to be the nerd fest but honestly now I find it easier than windows to install and use. Plus, free!

XP was great, Vista was fine (I wasn't working with it, just a student back then), 7 and 8 were both great. This 11 shit sucks ass. They tried so hard to push the tablet interface and mac knock off that it made desktop use (industry) a pain in the balls.

Might be a hard commute to the north Maine woods from Phoenix  I wish I could go, but not without months of planning lol

I used XP and Vista for most everything growing up. I had 7 but it was pretty unremarkable. Then smart phones became your one-stop party machine, so I hadn’t had a PC for a while. My wife and I got MacBook airs a few years ago and I’ll never go back. At least Mac OS is Mac OS so it actually works beautifully

Another Mac user here. Hardest part of using the machine is remembering your Apple ID during set up.

:pout: I know I know

Things are doing! It’s hot as fuck! 117 today, 118 tomorrow. Love working on roofs and in mechanical rooms!

Otherwise, having the acreage and space has been a blessing, we’re loving it!

    How’s nasty New England? :puke:

Well Alex, not as hot as you are dealing with right now but we have had some days in a row of 98-100's. Yes, you do not have the rust riddled winters out there but we do have the better rock crawling trails out here. Acreage and space are great, but is it all just sand and flat rock? In all honesty dude, we miss you terribly out here and hope you can come backnto visit soon. We found a bunch of new trails I know you would like to ride shotgun on (since you really don't have an "offroader" anymore) :D

I did something to my Windows 10 box that I can't seem to solve and I've been stuck running my Windows 11 laptop, which is fine for day to day, but I still like aspects of 10 better.

I have/had an ancient copy of Office 2010 for basic budgeting stuff on both machines. I randomly one night got a license error on the desktop and it recommended running the repair feature. That did absolutely nothing, so I tried to uninstall. It failed on uninstall, so I manually deleted everything and downloaded a clean delete tool from Microsoft. I went to reinstall and it failed. I guess Office isn't happening anymore, but it still runs on my laptop, so at least I've got something. I tried Apache Open Office but the inability to save as a .xlsx was a non-starter. I haven't a clue why I can't reinstall the program but since it's so old any / all support is long since gone.

When I switched to Firefox since Chrome disabled uBlock Origin I ran an old registry cleanup tool I've had for decades and I don't know if that had anything to do with it.

Whatever, I'll live, but it's much easier doing all my budgeting on a larger screen.

Where did you get the caliper pins? They don't look like the stock Toyota pins.

I used to run the taskbar on top too. At least they added back the ability to show taskbar labels. I had a really hard time with just icons and forced combining.

I can't deal with MacOS, I have tried a bunch of times. It is so unfriendly to how I like to work. The static menu bar on only one monitor is especially awful when switching between a bunch of different apps on multiple monitors.

I wonder if the metal is different? The stock Toyota pins rust pretty quick and don't want to come out willingly.

I have the bare metal pins and these. I decided on these because they look plated and might resist rust better.
