    BTW...
    Local - Kisatchie National forest.

I do lots of runs to Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona and Utah. (twice a year, once on the bike once in the Taco or the Sprinter van.) Need a cool summer route plan from a local? Give me a buzz!

That's really somewhat close to me. Close enough that it's worth asking if you've ever been to or heard of the Aimwell dunes?

    Like, so many.
When I loved on NOLA me and buddies would go the spillway. That's been a while though. Do y'all still do that?

Northshore Covington guy here! We prefer to go out west, but I'm all for trail running and stuff down here. Any trails and such that people could point me to would be cool. Or even organizing a a group ride! The Hot Springs Off Road Park is only about 8 hours away and that place is BAD ASS. I know theres trails in Kisatchie too, but I've never been.

Sicily used to be the spot for camping/offroading. pretty much guaranteed body damage. we'd organize 2-3 group rides a year there BITD. Facebook groups kind of took over and that just turned into dues with nice trucks and less wheeling.
Hawk pride, Hot springs and barnwell are all good places to go ride. Choccolocco and morris mountain are on my list but i haven't been there yet. there's a guy in st francisville that used to do guided runs. 4x4 life i think they were called. been wanting to take my tacoma out there.

Thanks for the info. I just found Sicily recently. According to their FB Page and trail map it looks like they have multiple levels of trails doable by different vehicles. Was that not your experience? They were all rough, high level trails?

    Hot Springs is the shit.
I haven't been to Hawk Pride, but I've been eyeing it. The others I never heard of, so thanks for the info.

Wife n I just went to Kisatchie for the first time. There aren't tons of tough trails. Mostly dirt and gravel roads through the sections of forest. However, there are these little spur trails that run off the main trail everywhere. Most of them dead end, but some loop around or connect to other sections. Those smaller trails were filled with small obstacles, lots of mud and stuff. Those were fun. Used On X to guide us through them.

There's a few trails you can probably do fine, but most of it is buggy trails at this point. big easy west, west line, short cut are maybe doable. Rain will pretty much shut you down though it turns into a bit of a slop fest. it's been a few years since I went out there. May need to go back and put eyes on it. Sicily is the reason I have a trailer and a dedicated wheeler now though lol

Damn man, that sucks. I was really excited to go there and try it out sometime soon. My truck is still pretty stock, so I guess this is not an option. I guess I'll start looking closer at Hawk Pride

Don’t let me dissuade you. The camping is great out there. Definitely worth the trip for one of the bounty hills or club events

Hey guys. I live over in Covington, and work takes me out to Franklinton sometimes. I found that the Bogue Chitto ATV park up there has Jeep and Truck trails along with off grid camping. The place is AWESOME!!! There is apparently a Jeep Group in the area that helps maintain the trails and etc. Jeepers Creekers(?)

It's only 1.5hrs away from Westbank/South Shore and probably 30-45min from Hammond

I just recently discovered they allow jeeps and trucks when perusing On X Off Road App. I always thought it was ATVs and bikes only. This may become my new regular hang out place. Would be cool to go out there with a bunch of Tacoma brothers :)

There's a number of videos of the place on You Tube. here is a link to one of them.

Bogue Chitto has also become a favorite for its Mountain Biking network of trails. Really nice State Park with lots of stuff to do there.

Thanks for sharing about the offroad trails. A lot closer than Sicily Island (North of Alexandria)

FYI, Bogue Chitto ATV Park is NOT in or by the Bogue Chitto State Park. They are about 20-30min apart. I pasted a screen clip of On X you can see the ATV park at the top circled and the State park is at the bottom

Here's a good close up of the park itself

I'm itching to find a good group of 4x4 guys or gals to ride with in these places and stuff. If anyone is interested in a group ride or something, lets organize one.

check out LLK if you're interested. Plenty of us near covington. We're doing Mardi Krawl at Hawk Pride in tuscumbia AL next month, thats a great park and a great time.

CajunYotas used to be a bunch of TW guys and we'd organize annual rides, but now it's grown to some huge number and most of the wheelers filtered down into smaller groups of their own

    I'm local to you. holler.

That would be cool! I have no one to ride with, and would like to get a group going. Also it would be nice to have others around in case you get stuck. I was paying the truck off before spending a bunch modding it for off road. Just finished paying it off, so I have no recovery means yet. About to get Phil over at Searchers 4WD to put on a high clearance CBI Dakar front bumper and WARN winch soon.
