It would be awesome, if they sold a complete kit with quality fittings, hoses, spacers/mount plates, DIRECTIONS, etc. The thought of buying the wrong fittings, wrong hoses, or poor quality stuff, has me scared of this mod. Even though we have/had 2 Subaru's, with the remote topside filter, and changes are a breeze. Ski

How about this? For anyone who wants to get one of these complete kits, including the installed fittings, length of hose, mounting plate, etc.... essentially a Plug-N-Play kit, I'd be happy to do all of this for you. Would it help if I did all this for just material cost? Basically a FREE public service for all the help I've received from all of you.

One benefit of doing this would be I simplify the most difficult part of the job- Mounting Plate & Location. Because I would fabricate the mounting plate complete with mounting holes the installation will go in only one spot- the correct spot utilizing holes already in the truck. Not only would this make it much easier, less time, and error free, you ensure the height of the remote filter is optimized.

The secondary benefit is getting the correct hose length so there is no excessive slack and the fittings are installed correctly- the 2nd most difficult part of the job.

Does anybody know if spin on filters will fit through the TRD skid plate access panel?

The spin on filters are no larger in diameter then the filter housing that is being removed.

Thanks mquibble for your posts and possibly putting together a plug and play kit. Have you cost it out yet?

I came across this vid by Car Care Nut (19:06 mark) cautioning Toyo owners about switching to the spin-on filters. Has anyone here had any issues with their conversion?

No, I haven’t moved forward with the plug-and-play kit. You were the only one who showed interest. If 10 or so people had expressed interest, I would’ve done it at cost—no profit to me. I’m a retired engineer and was simply looking to help, not make money. My own install has been running strong with no issues.

What was his concern about using a spin-on filter? Considering I invested a significant amount in installing this kit, it only makes sense to use the best spin-on filter available. After spending that much, there’s no reason to cut corners now.

Watch the video. Fuzzy concerns. Mostly yes true IF you use garbage parts.

My original plan for the all-in-one kit included both the Baxter spin-on adapter and the remote adapter. However, it only makes sense to include those if we can get a bulk discount—otherwise, the added shipping costs from me to you would outweigh the benefit. If each person purchases their own Baxter components, that would significantly reduce my upfront costs, allowing me to focus solely on sourcing and assembling the lines, fittings, and mount plate. That would make things much more manageable for me financially.

I’m going to send Baxter a note right now to see if we can get bulk pricing and find out what quantity would qualify. I’ll post their response as soon as I hear back. Here’s my note to them.

    Hi,

A few of us over at TacomaWorld.com are very interested in installing your spin-on adapter and relocation adapter on our Gen 3 trucks. The main hesitation for some members has been sourcing and assembling the lines, fittings, and relocation plate required for the setup. Since I completed this installation on my own truck two years ago, I’ve offered to assemble complete kits for others—at my cost—as a way of giving back to the community that’s been such a valuable resource for me.

Including your components in the kits would require a significant upfront investment on my part, and the added cost of shipping them from me to each individual would move us in the wrong direction financially. That’s why I’m reaching out to see if there might be an option for bulk pricing if 10 or more of us commit to purchasing.

Ideally, each person could order directly from you at a discounted rate, which would minimize shipping and make the process more efficient for everyone.

We’re excited about the potential for more members to adopt this setup and look forward to hearing your thoughts.

    Best regards,

    Michael Q.

Still have to deal with waste oil in spin on oil filter. Have to punch hole in bottom of engine oil filter, let it drain out. Will get mess if not.;)

With the relocation adapter I’m using, you don’t get oil runout. You simply loosen it slowly to release the vacuum, and the oil drains cleanly from the vertically mounted spin-on filter. It’s a beautiful setup.
