Dang, is that one of the nuts?

I've been holding off on that part, but really all I have to do is grind the nut down to weld it inside the tube.

After which I just need to weld the other nut to the stool mount along with the ACME screw and she's done

 

I'm subscribed now. It's actually Batman Returns, I always get those mixed up. The new goal is for my mother to send me an old VCR still installed in their home office.

Maybe I'll try and fix this thing later. But the added complexity of the combo DVD/VHS units when I can just play DVDs on my computer makes it seem pointless.

 

Yup… kinda makes me wish I’d done a 1.75” tube instead of 1.5”… oh well, it’s done now. Wanted all of my components accounted for and test fit before I really started doing much.

 

Why do you have to shave it down like that

To fit it in the tube that all the legs attach to so it can be threaded, providing height adjustment via acme rod. I stuck the nut in one end and a sleeve in the rest so everything is supported nice and tight from every direction.

As you know, I am going to be asking a lot of this stool…

So that nut is the one the acme rod threads into? And its gonna get welded into the central tube, with a sleeve welded in to back it up

That's what I was thinking. Definitely something smaller.

 

Been hitting up the vending machine at work before picking Sofia up from her summer camp bus stop at 430 lately (treat makes the 45 min long drive home more bearable)…today I swiped my card, bought a pack of Oreos for .75c and the machine spit out .50c in the change slot with the cookies

too bad it wasn’t a dollar or more, I’d be buying up everything in there

 

This nut gets rounded to fit in the tube.



He's adding additional support within the tube, and wants to use the center tube to provide more strength in the rod itself.

Way I did mine is I use a handle as a locknut up top.



In the case for this new one I'm making, it'll just use a plain nut.



I didn't go with adding any extra support because ACME rod is strong as hell, and the height of the rod is kept to a minimum.

 

Although it's only as wide as the welder itself.

Really I could do with just a Miller 215MP or at most a 220MP.

It'll be smaller than my current setup and I won't lose much headroom.

 

IDK how big you are starting from but I have these plans I can send you (for the express purpose of reviewing to see if you would like to purchase it yourself). Easy enough to wing something but I like structure.

It turned out really nice and @Kwikvette has the cut files for all the little odds and ends.

 

Why not weld the nuts top and bottom? Still would adjust the height by spinning the seat

 

To be fair, I’d guess I am approximately 1.8 kwikvettes in magnitude

 

I have so many files, I forgot you sent them to me when you needed some more parts

If you want your stool to sit at a fixed position, sure
