Just upgraded my gen 2 Tacoma to a gen 3.

    I now have a 2023 TRD Off-road.

looking under the hood, I found a “bracket” an some threaded holes in the fenders. I was wondering if someone could tell me what the bracket and holes are potentially for?

    thank you in advance!IMG_9827.jpg IMG_9830.jpg

Holes on the left side are for the clutch master cylinder reservoir on TRD Off-Road and Pro manual transmission models. The bracket with the studs is for an ABS module on any vacuum brake booster models. I’m not sure about the right side holes.

In Toyota’s one fits all there are extra cabling, holes, brackets, fuses….

it’s an attempt save$ through standardization. You could make a mounting place for an extra, battery, compressor..

You know the inner fenders are basically carried over from 2nd gen, right? What were the holes used for in your 2nd gen?

The engineer behind the first bracket was just very proud of himself and wanted to subtly show everyone.

From fuzzy memory, some of those threads had to do with the different brake systems between OR and not-OR trims.

Also, somebody made a relay organizer rack that fit the drivers side threads. It was cheap and one of the best things I found for organizing my rats nest of wire jobs.

It’s for your on-board air compressor.
