This rattle occurrs when idling at 500rpms in drive or reverse. I can’t figure it out, it is coming from the odometer, please help. It goes away when accelerating or driving. 2019 Tacoma with 25k miles on it

You are 100% sure it is coming from the odometer? How did you determine this? Or are you saying it is coming from that area of the dash?

    PS: welcome to TW!

Gauge cluster is relatively easy to access if it’s definitely that. The surrounding plastic comes right off with a little tug. There are screws holding the cluster in place, might be worth seeing if they need to be tightened up.

It is coming from that area in the dash, almost sounds like a fan hitting something but it is a mild tick!

500-1000rpms not moving, when I accelerate it goes away completely until the stoplight.

This isn't a problem that needs fixing. You drive a truck, not a Lexus. Shift into neutral when sitting at a red light for a long time.

Yeah, I concur that it's a rattle from that area. You're just going to have to start snooping around in there and tighten up what you can.

BTW, that would drive me crazy too. Good luck brother!

At least not happening at speed. You should be able to set the parking brake, put it in gear and then start applying pressure to things until you track it down

    Do you have small kids?

That is a classic noise where a child dropped a penny in an AC vent. Ask me how I know.

Pop the hood while it's idling, poke your head around in there and make sure it's not something in the engine bay that's transferring noise through the dash.

    I agree, this needs fixing!

Also agree with @Phlogiston on where to start. There was another poster IIRC that found a noise originating from the steering column attachment bolt/stud within the cowl area that was in the same combo meter area.

    Good luck.
