    You guys are savage.
Got up way before dawn and left the house at 5:30, had to dodge one flock of turkeys and several suicidal deer but managed to make it to where I was last weekend.
Kind of a shitty angle, lot's of burned out forest. Trail I'm trying to get to way off yonder.

    Here it is.

About 30 minutes later, on that road looking back where I started. Center top peak, horizontal line.

Although it may look like a burnt wasteland from a distance, it's getting green again once you're in it. It's kind of neat being able to see the forest thru the trees. :p

So this trail is one I started from the other end last weekend and basically got lost since the trees and landmarks are gone. This weekend, after Google Earthing it, I figured it out, as long as I entered from the opposite end. Had a sweet day of running the 5 side roads as well. It's been almost two decades since I've been in this area.
For the most part, not that scenic, but a fun trail ride. Here's a pic of my lunch instead.

Oddly, the dispersed campsites did not all burn, they were like an oasis of green and shade in a desert of charred poles. And surprisingly empty.

I had the entire mountain and all the roads to myself.:D
Getting better at being off road. Aiming for the downed trees and water crossings now and getting after it instead of avoiding and tip toeing thru them.
Actually hit 3rd and 4th gear in that stuff. Felt like I should get a drone and be a YouTube star.

Gonna lose the top case for the next trip and take along a Tusk collapsible dry bag that came with the Tusk pannier bags. I'm tired of hearing it thunk and rattle around. Kicking it with my foot when I get on and off, etc. I only carry the coat and pant layers and my lunch, so it should be fine for that. It is super convenient, but I need less rattle.

Got the quad idling like it should. It was missing the vacuum hose between the carb and petcock. Unfortunately the engine has a loud ticking from the valve train and I don’t really want to dig into it any further with it not being mine.

Yessir, next month is the rut. And Archery season.
The tracks and shit are everywhere. Pretty sure I can just sit in the camper and use it as a blind

My area seems like a slow decrease over the last few years. There is really twisty 15 mile section that is so much fun to ride just a few miles from my house. When I first started riding 7-8 years ago, a beautiful day like today (weekend, sunny, and 82) and I would likely have seen multiple group rides. Today? One lone cruiser. :( I'm sure the homes along the route don't mind though...

Wife and I finally got a chance to ride down to the Tuskegee Airmen National Historic site where the Red Tails completed their basic training. Pretty neat site and fun back road ride.

We visited that site back in 2019 when we were in Alabama. Probably my favorite historic site I've visited for so many reasons. That site should get more funding to allow them to buy back the airstrip itself and really restore it to what it once was.

Spent several hours yesterday at a local classic car and motorcycle show held in a borough park. Figured I'd share a few pictures for the show.

My CB400F Super Sport cleans up nicely. I was entered in the restored class though my bike has only had some light resto work, not a full tear down.

This is the bike that won the class. It was restored about a mile from my house by the man who helped me out with my CB400F.

He also owns the green Indian beside it.

The BMW has been in the same family for 3 generations. Owner said there is something going on in the transmission, so it doesn't get ridden much now.

One owner Ducati, the 70-year-old gentleman bought it new in 1965 and rode it to high school! It's still ridden a few miles a year.

Winner of the custom bike class. Turbocharged, custom paint, 12 speaker sound system and more money than I have in owning 4 bikes.

All I was trying to say was years ago id see so many bikes on the back roads. Especially in that area I rode at yesterday. I was just surprised to not seeing anyone out yesterday it was beautiful riding weather got to a high of 82 by mid day. Of course I seen more bikes out on the main roads and highways.

Theres more money in just the paint that in all 4 my bikes. Bikes like that always confuse me. On the one hand, I can recognize that whoever did the paint is very skilled, along with slapping a turbo on it, but on the other hand that thing is god awful ugly and will never sell for more than 1/3 of what they put into it, if they're lucky.

It's because you are looking at it as a motorcycle. It's not. It's a canvas. Using the bike as the canvas makes the art unique and special, so it elevates both the art and the bike in the eyes of a collector. It adds nothing in the eyes of a rider.
