Well, it was a fun day...

The breaker for the well pump at the garage has tripped a few times randomly.
    Figured I better investigate.

This doesn't look so good, 20 years or so in a pretty miserable basement will do that to you.

    20250808_155542.jpg

And I think this might be the problem, just inside the pressure switch.

    20250808_182646.jpg

A trip to Slowes got a new pressure switch and also a heavy duty double pole switch rated 30 amps (the pump is 5 amps). Pressure switches cost more now, $38.
Slowes used to have Square D switches, now they have some generic... stuff.
We'll see how long it lasts.

The breaker is in the garage, the pressure switch is in the house about 150 feet away, there was no electric shut off in the house. I was there already it was easy to add the switch - the $18 super heavy duty premium switch I might mention.

My little corner of unhappiness for the afternoon/evening.

    20250808_203757.jpg

Job is all done except hooking it back up in the garage, another day.

Yesterday I rolled through the Wendy's drive thru for a large fries - reward for hours in the basement. ;)

There was only one car ahead of me and they sat at window #2 for a long time.

Finally the bags started coming out. The young fellow running window #1 opened it to apologize for the wait and I asked "how much was their order?"

    Just over $70...!

    At a drive thru window...o_O

Damn, Sam - If I spend that much Mrs Green & I are going to Red Lobster.

There must be a poll question in here somewhere.

that's literally a going-out cost for a family of 4 anymore. welcome to the devalued dollar of 2025.

i'm normally around $20-30 just for myself at my normal non-dollar menu one-day weekend-splurge eating out fast food stops. normally culvers. but wendy's-wise, a 3-stack baconator, 2x-4piece nuggets(because 4 is too small, but the next size up is 10), baconator fries, and a drink are also around $24. multiply that by two adults, plus 2 kids meals, and it can't be that far off.

hell, i just spent $245 at aldi.

what's shitty about it? it works the same as every other brand i've used.

trick is to get the marine-grade stuff with the heat-activated adhesive/hot glue.

it's 90 degrees outside. so today was an indoor work day today. cleaned up some of the basement, and then got thrown into a home networking project... my eyedro home energy monitor showed up far faster than Amazon has been predicting as of recently.

after the last shocker of a $300 electric bill, i wanted to have a little more knowledge of what kind of power i'm using. my utility company has all sorts of tools on their site for 'helping' with natural gas usage, even bill-averaging payment plans. but they entirely ignore electric usage, despite it being far more costly in the summer like this.

I think it is a safe assumption that ol' Bob Vila had nothing to do with this. o_O

Well the post are drilled and top rails are cut and bottoms routered to accommodate the solar LED strip lights. Came out better than I expected. Still have work to do on the stairs but we can live with this for now. Anxious to see how the lights will work. The hope is that they will filter down through the balusters. Hey all, I would love more space for oil changes etc.

Would you put your Tacoma on 4 rhino ramps? I assume driving the front up on ramps would not allow for all the oil to drain so would need 4 to be level but don’t want to get crushed.

I'd just get the ramps. If you have ever removed an oil pan from a Tacoma, you would see quite a bit of oil that can not reach the drain hole. Since I found that out, I do t even care if the oil is warm, it's not all coming out regardless anyways.
