The gold is better than the single barrel, but the SFTB is best. More proof and more taste. For the same price as the gold, I would go SFTB.

I don't know either. Woodford Double Oak is some damn good whiskey! It's certainly in the top 10 of whiskeys I've tried, maybe in my top 5 favorite regular sipping whiskeys. It's smooth and has loads of flavor. :hattip:

I don’t remember what I paid for it. However, here are my personal feelings about expensive bottles. I have a bunch and none of them have ever been so amazing that I thought they were worth the cash. When I can get a JD SBBP for $65 at BevMo any day of the week, a pour would have to be spectacular to be worth the hunt and cost 2 or 3 times more than that bottle.

So, if you are passionate about bourbon and have the disposable income, I would get it. It is my favorite of the Woodford offerings that I have tasted. Just be prepared that you will likely be disappointed with the cost to taste ratio. I will likely not buy it again, but will probably pay too much for another “Unicorn” to replace it with down the road.

This hobby can be a lot like the audiophile, photography, cars, ect hobbies. They have people spending lots of money on diminishing returns. All are also very subjective, what one person prefers does not always carry over to others.

Drink what you like, how you like it!
    Cheers!
