Need new headlights for 2013 Tacoma

I have a 2013 Crew cab 4WD SR5 short bed. The headlights barely shine through the tops of the lenses. I'd like headlight assemblies better (brighter/ better light spread) than OEM, but I don't want to have to install a new wiring harness. I'd be fine with LED or HID, projector style or not. I don't want to have to change the bulbs every 8 to 12 months (like with the higher wattage halogens - more light, but they just don't seem to last long). Is this possible? What recommendations do you have?

 

OEM assemblies are going to be significantly better than any aftermarket. Especially when paired with a high performance halogen bulb and a relay harness. I understand what you're saying about not wanting to be changing bulbs frequently, but thats the tradeoff with halogen lamps.

But even a standard output bulb will perform better with a relay harness if you just wanted to stick with a philips/osram non-high wattage bulb. Heck, the philips xtremevision +60 is a great choice, similar lifespan to a long life bulb, slightly better performance, bo blue tinting that diminishes the high beam performance.

If you want to stick with halogen, go oem housings. For any projector lamp, you'll be going aftermarket, I'd just stay away from the cheap projector lamps on ebay/Amazon. They're generally a very bad H1 prpjector copy that is usually paired with a bad "H1" hid or led retrofit bulb. Can't make a good light with a bad optic and worse bulb.

I've had HID's in my cars since around 2005, and for me there is no substitute. I've tried multiple Halogen options over the years, and HID's just continue to out perform anything else. I now have a couple cars with LED's, and I still prefer my Tacoma's HID setup.

Fwiw I've been running Depo brand Capa certified OEM style from Amazon going on, 4 years now. Still like new. About $150 for the pair IIRC. You'd be amazed at the difference that fresh, clear lenses can make.

I just installed a new pair of Nilights on AMAZON for $100 . I also upgraded from halogens to LED's from Sylvania the Silverstar Ultra LED 9003 H4 from AUTOZONE online for $79.99 w/ 20% discount.they are great and barely needed adjustments on vertical only. I can't afford new OEM at the stealerships. Also replaced the fog lamps by Nilight on Amazon for another $40 a pair and the Sylvania Silverstar Ultra LED's for another$79.99 , I can see at night again on and off road here in Florida.

 

Not clear what you mean. Is this because your headlights are oxidized? If so why not just get a headlight restoration kit and make them like new again? Most everyone I know who have installed aftermarket lights have had regrets. Not everyone but most.
