I'd buy that for $500, it won't last at that price.

I agree. I wish they could buy back Sharpe field that is just to the Northwest of Moton. Some family out of Woodstock Ga owns all 3000+ acres of what was once Sharpe Field. So much history at that location but completely inaccessible to the public and by the looks of google earth, 90% of the buildings are completely gone.

My FJ1100 right after I bought it and still lived at my parent's house.

2010 or 2011 how it looked when I sold it. I had picked up a second FJ1100 as a parts bike and used the later model FJ1200 front end and the aftermarket rear shock to upgrade my bike.

The 1986-87 FJ1200 still used the 16" wheels front and rear and the 2 piston brake calipers. 1988 on up the FJ1200 went to a 17" front wheel, floating rotors, and 4 piston brakes. I think the last models around 1991-1992 might have had ABS available but no sure. I bought the 85 in 1987 as a 2-year-old leftover model, covered in dust in a back corner of the dealership. One bike I really regret selling. When I bought it I really wanted the FJ1200 as the revised bodywork I just thought looked better. My insurance at the time only insured bikes up to 1100cc so the FJ1100 was the ticket. FJ1100 top speed was listed as 153mph, the FJ1200 was 156. With a professional drag racer on it the FJ100 was clocked at a 10:35 quarter mile stock.

I will tell you that for that time not much on the street would outrun it. It was also comfortable enough to tour on and as reliable as a hammer. I still look on Marketplace sometimes but just don't have the garage space right now.

rotated tires changed oil threw out the old air freshener.

I swapped bikes with a buddy on the ride back from Laconia many years ago. His was an FJ1100.
His words to me as we mounted up, "It's the control of power that is the measure".

That Yam, had power to throw away!

600lbs and 125hp, the 1200 had 130hp. By today's standards that would be unacceptable, I had an R6 with more power and 170lbs less. It'd be so fun to travel back in time with a modern liter bike and show people what fast looks like 35 years later

It’s all about perspective. Back in the day my 76hp 85 ninja 600 felt fast. Today that’s a beginner bike. Now the zx-10r I had for a bit @ 190hp was freaking crazy fast. IMO 115hp to the ground @ 410lbs or less with good suspension and tires is the sweet spot for me. Not super fast but not slow either.

My fave is when they leave the posting up but put "SOLD" on it. THAT is truly WTF because they took the time to add to the post after the bike is gone...

So far I've resisted the temptation to email/reply and ask "So, you're saying it's sold?":frusty:

ill have to find the link later but i saw a video on instagram where someone pulled the ktm 1290 motor out of something and put it into a 690 supermotos frame....

the damn thing would power wheelie with ease constantly! looked like a lot of fun but also a death trap lmao.

XR obtained! Super light compared to the Burgman, and I'm really excited to ride it around. Road trip to get it was fantastic, a bit rainy on Saturday but Sunday was gorgeous.

Yup. Not only that, but the kickstand isn't designed for dynamic loads like bouncing down the road. You can break the stand or it's mount, or possibly just weaken it and have it snap at a random later date.

Never transport with the kickstand down.

Noted! Thanks guys. First time transporting a bike lol. It made it home safe and I don't think I'll have any reason to do it again.
