Got all the parts to finish up the water softener and filter stuff at a friends house, so gonna get that project wrapped up today. They said just the big carbon block filter seems to have made a difference. Hopefully the little jet well pump holds it together

Talked to the lady at church yesterday who wants me to build a handicap ramp and gave her a rough estimate on material cost and she said that's fine and gave me her Lowe's credit card

I said I have one and can use it, she said just use mine

 

Man, you gotta watch out on that Lowe's card by Syncrony Bank. The way they do the interest is downright predatory. I managed to pay off mine after I figured out what they were doing. Yes, it helped me do A LOT of stuff around here, but holy smokes the interest. Even without the 5% off it would make better sense to get a lower interest credit card and use it for home improvement only.

 

Only way I use mine is if I have the money to pay it off, save 5% at purchase time and pay it ASAP.

 

Lowe's card huh, they charge me $1.99 to send me a paper bill, yet, when I get a statement, and I do not owe them anything, there is no charge, so, I make sure I dont use it....

 

It's not for everybody, but I went paperless for everything. Only check I write nowaday's is my quarterly local tax payments and there's a battery place down the way that discounts for cash/checks.

I’m moving slow this morning. I use to have a Lowe’s card, but did away with it years ago. Didn’t need other bill to keep up with. I just use cash or my Visa card. That way it gets paid if every month. Plus I get money back on my Visa card.

 

That’s the way to use ANY credit card

 

I recently read that people like us that pay off the balance on a credit card right away are referred to as "deadbeats" by thr credit card companies because they don't make any money from us.

 

Yup they mean!

 

They make less money on us - the vendor gets hit with a 3-4% transaction fee every time you use your card.

 

This year the Slowes card interest rate went to 31% for everybody.

And...

Sync Bank has a nasty little trick with the Slowes card too:

Let's say you charge $1000 and pay $500 on the bill.
Next month you owe the other $500 + interest - fair enough.
So you pay off the entire balance before the due date.
One & done right?

Nope.

The next month you will get a bill for the interest from last month even though you paid off the entire statement balance before the due date.
They do this every time you pay off a carried balance.

I have never seen another CC do that, my Slowes card went into the dead file just on principal.

 

Yea I sent them a hefty payment last month (paying off) and this month I had a friggin' interest bill. Those tricky buggers! I will probably rarely use it now.

I have a CC through my bank and they're waaay better on their interest. I use it for online purchases to not use my debit card online. Much easier to correct fraud on a CC over someone taking out all my cash on the Debit.

 

We got a situation at church with a young man and the hots for my daughter...............

He's 10 I think and she's 9 so won't be nothing happening but it sure is funny. My wife showed the note to his mom even though it said on the front "don't show this to anybody".

He wrote her a letter and gave it to her yesterday. It said in part "you're beautiful, you're fast, you're flexible, your name is the most beautiful name, etc" and on the bottom it said "please excuse my bad hand writing"

Baby girl said he dropped it on her foot and she said you dropped something, he said it's for you

 

Capitalism works both ways, they can play the trick, yet, their customers do have other choices that they can move to.
