I'm finally in a spot to grab a 4th gen, and I have a local dealer that is willing to give me 11% off. I'm shooting for a LB OR, and dealer seems confidant they could find one with my specs at that discount.

I've got two concerns about the eventual MY26 announcement. A hybrid LB would be worth the wait. Also, 2025 financing deals could go from 3.75% to .99% saving $3k in interest (Tundra did that after the announcement).

My last concern is tariffs and monetary policy. Toyota cut their profit projection by 16%. I'm not sure how that will play out in terms of MSRPs and production numbers, perhaps that 11% will be long gone by 2026 model year.

Am I missing anything? Thanks for the input.

Until the dealer has a truck, their deal is fiction.

Hopefully 2026 announcements will happen soon.

If TM stock is an indicator, Toyota Corp is doing well.

Nobody can predict the future. You have to decide for yourself whether any unknown future changes are worth the risk of higher costs. As prices always go up, and tariff chatter around Mexico build Tacoma’s points towards higher future costs + tariff’s, I would definitely buy a discounted unit now over the chance of some 3rd year meaningful upgrade to the Tacoma.

    Intake, exhaust, lift. Typical stuff.
2025 prices are pretty good right now and Toyota financing is pretty low. The only thing that would make me wait for the 2026 is maybe a larger gas tank.

The one main aspect I’d consider is how tariffs will affect the price going forward.

Right now, Toyota and several other automakers are absorbing the costs to see how things play out. But if the tariffs stick I would not expect that continue.

Just this week Toyota released a statement confirming that they’ve lost over 3 billion dollars to American tariffs so far. And they expect to take a near 50% hit to year-over-year net profits should they stand through the remainder of the fiscal year.

Reneging on the USMCA and adding tariffs to Mexican vehicle imports is something I can see. But even without that happening, the cost of components and raw materials has been inflated by tariffs.

There’s no escaping them. And they will be passed onto all of us.

Toyota is increasing production in the United States.Exactly why the higher tariffs were implemented. It is going to take some time to level off.

They're doing that by adding an additional shift to existing lines. They aren't building Tacomas in the US any time soon, especially not when they just spent billions opening a brand new plant for them just a few years ago.

It can take upwards of a decade to build out new vehicle factories and supply chains are still affected by the tariffs on raw materials into the US. Even if Toyota broke ground tomorrow, it would not affect 2026 Tacoma production.

The price is going to go up next year.

Are there any 4th gen Tacoma trucks in dealer’s lot that will meet your needs? Dealer may have special order it, have it built to your specs. I probraly wrong, but then tarrifs.:p

Long beds seem to be a bit rare, but they pulled up their available inventory which I think includes trucks in the manufacturing pipeline as well as what they could source from other dealers nearby. I'm pretty sure they had what I was looking for, just not on the lot. I'm scoping out some other nearby dealers to see if I can find what I'm looking for.

Tacoma production isn't likely coming to the US anytime soon. They have 2 plants in Mexico producing them that are fairly new. You'll just end up having to pay some, or all, of the tariffs on them at some point.

I don't like either of those options! Decided to give it a go. If I can find an ORP LB, I'm going for it. Might have to travel as they don't seem readily available.

Prices will go up next year and I strongly doubt there will be a LB hybrid option or larger gas tank. If you can get 10% off and a fair trade I’d say go for it.

Simply put. If they can get what you desire at that discount buy it NOW. I’m glad my 2025 TRD Sport Premium is in my garage and I didn’t get anywhere near that discount. Why take the chance and wait? Sooner or later these costs likely will be passed on to the consumer. Good Luck!

Tariffs can change quickly based on negotiation and agreements, and there’s multiple sides to them - especially when the manuf is competing with domestic production. They have to balance how much they absorb vs how much they pass to consumers. They are not nearly as simple as might be portrayed by those with an agenda (either angle). Toyota has to consider how much lost profit they take if they absorb tariffs for now vs how much lost profit they take in lost sales pricing themselves even further above the competition.

Today's 2025 new truck is effectively a year old by any blue book assessment. No blue book based buyer cares when you bought it, today’s buyer gets the same depreciation as the fall 2024 buyer. Doesn’t mean a 2025 isn’t a bad buy, but factor end of model year into your negotiation.

Trying to balance the known against the unknown is a trick I wish I knew the answer to.

I got interested in 4th gen when I thought my 3rd gen might be totaled, now that it’s repaired I’m not in a hurry. There are things I like about 4th gen - powertrain is a huge improvement - and things I dislike. So I’ll wait to see what 2026 brings, at least. At 9 years and 103k miles my 2017 has lots of life left. Powertrain and some other things are mildly annoying but it was paid off five years ago and I kept making “payments” into savings/investment accounts. Not sure when the annoyances will loosen the purse strings.

I'm hoping the hybrid DCLB isn't too far off on the horizon! I still wonder why it wasn't offered initially when they introduced it actually?

I've been kind of holding out for that...or a manual LB. No dice on either and it feels like maybe 1 in 10 are LBs in general which is frustrating.

Does Toyota only build Trailhunters at a cerain time? I forget which plant builds the hybrid but it's only one that does. No idea where Long Beds are built but it's probably a combination of building hybrid long beds for Traihunters and the limited number of those they build they all go to becoming trailhunters. Simply put Toyota's production only allows for so many long bed hybrids to be built and Toyota does not see the need to build and sell hybrid long beds outside of the TH.

Toyota has never sold a stickshift DCLB Tacoma, IIRC.
