I've seen YouTube videos where guys have cut and spliced wires to remedy this problem. I found the problem to be worn electrical contacts on the two connectors under the passenger side dash. Over time, the female and male connectors stop making contact. The easy fix is to simply grab the wires and pull them slightly toward the seat so it creates a slight change in the angle between the contacts. Of course, a more long-term fix would be to make a slight bend in the male connectors, but that would require laying on your back in the floorboard.

Heck, now I feel like I need to go take a cold shower.

Normally the blower motor resistor is the fix with a 'high only' condition. That's assuming the connection is good.

I ran across the fix I suggested after noticing the blower started working on all speeds if I simply applied slight movement to the connectors.

I could see a resistor failing over time from an increase in current from a poor or weak connection.

    minor tweaks
The problem is the temper slowly goes out of the small metal pins and sockets, you can tweak them till the sun goes down and all your doing is temporarily making contact, nothing close to a "fix". I got so good at what your describing I could do it sitting at a light with my right foot. The problem is it's a poor design that wastes electrical energy also causing allot of heat on anything but High coupled with a connector that isn't up to the demands of it's circuit.
