I was stationed at Camp Pendleton for almost 5 years, I enjoyed SoCal but could have never been able to afford to live there, this was back in the late 80's - early 90's.

The place is absolutely beautiful, geographically. It was a horrible place for me, politically. The SoCal deserts to the NorCal Sierra Nevadas, its stunning.

 

The Sierra’s are fantastic. The desert is… meh. After you’ve seen the same Joshua Trees 50 times, they get old lol

Hell yea dude! Classic LEW’s… can’t go wrong there!

Keep an eye on that line… great setup, but they sometimes use crappy line that’s got a ton of memory and is prone to breaking. Nothing worse than loosing great fish because of line breaking.

 

Only have one functional rod as well and also a Lews. Eyeing the Lews American Hero, because I have an odd fixation staying loyal to a brand. Pflueger may be the one to change my mind though. You have a blessed day as well

 

Pflueger are great, I’ve got a few of them I throw from time to time… Surprisingly, I like my Monarchs better than the President XT’s and they’re 1/2 the price!

I installed the KENWOOD dmx709s (have amps and sub) new speakers etc. and it sounded amazing!! But for kicks, I bought the dmx1057xr…. Mostly for the screen. Set it up just like 709s and it doesn’t even come close to the sound the 709s produces. Sounds kinda muffled.

No worries! Shimano SLX are great, two fishing buddies swear by them. But my go to are my BATES Goat’s and Hundo’s… like casting glass!

 

$300 just for the Bates reel I haven't leveled up to buying rod and reel separately. I'm still going for combos with the budget of $100 lol

Don't think I've seen fireline at wally world, is that Fluoro?

 

Do you have the factory JBL system? Are you using the Maestro RR2? I've got the 1057xr in my 2023 w/ JBL (was in my 2019 too) and do not experience that. Takes a bit of playing with the audio settings but it produces amazing output even with the factory speakers.

…may have to spoil it up. Actually headed to Dicks today, I’ll have a look for it.

Personally, I’ve been using SEAGUAR these past few years. I really like their yellow and red label fluorocarbons!

 

fluorocarbon, is more invisible than fireline, so there's that to consider
