Besides from anecdotal experiences, is this actually confirmed from a vendor or elsewhere?

I see, found the FAQ source below. Looks like a "select few" of the black ones contain the graphite.

    https://teamenergysuspension.com/about-energy/faq/

IS THERE A DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE ENERGY SUSPENSION® RED AND BLACK POLYURETHANE COMPONENTS?
Both colors are made from our signature Hyper-Flex™ performance polyurethane. A select few of our black polyurethane components contain graphite to add a lubrication property. Graphite is not added to the red formulation because black graphite discolors the red polyurethane. Graphite does not compromise our polyurethane formulas.

The information I quoted was from another member who directly inquired to them about the two Tacoma specific kits and the difference between the black and red. I would assume that the Tacoma kit in black count as one of the “select few”.

Safe to say they are due, this is with a body lift. Would be nice to gain some slight clearance in the front wheel well.

Keep an eye on your sub frame. Mine started to Crack after I installed these. Went back to oem ones and the cracks haven't progressed.

Do I need to loosen both rad bushings before lifting and replacing them?

You'll need to loosen the "middle" cab bolts or the ones at the very front of the cab as well. Then again the body lift might make it trickier as im sure youll require new hardware. Measure it up. Get some zinc grade 8 properly shanked hardware and some oversied washers or a welder bc those mounts are terribly toasted...

Just read about the graphite black bushings. I am on my 2nd set of black ones. I bought a small tub of energy suspensions's "Forumla 5" grease a few months ago and that stuff is THE BEST poly grease. I use it for everything poly in the shop. Its ridiculously sticky.

Needless to say, nothing in my front end is rubber anymore.. energy suspension took my lunch money in exchange for their whole catalog of poly goodies...

My front cab mounts were replaced 3 years ago with a cab mount relocation kit, new bushings and mounts.

So I should loosen the front cab mounts as well, is what you’re saying?

Tried to use the bigger bushing on top but the hood wouldn’t close, I’m sure the body lift puck wasn’t helping.

    IMG_4664.jpg

Gained close to inch on my front end.

    QUESTION
i like the gap on my aftermarket bumper right now, its like 1" for example on each side
my rad bushings are rough i think, collapsed, maybe make noise backing out of driveway or over some bumps
if i switch them out, will the gap on my bumper be even bigger?? :(
    thx

It just depends which way you mount them because you can either mount it short side up or larger side up.

I had no idea they sold pieces of the frame like that for our trucks.

Same.. Assuming its part of a repair procedure for a moderate front end collision?

That's most likely the case. It's actually good to know for future references! Then again, I believe you can purchase the entire radiator support bulkhead from Toyota as well if you get into a collision. Of course no one except a body shop is most likely going to do that because of the intensive labor it takes to replace it, but it is always good to offer that stuff on behalf of the manufacturer for sure.

I am in the middle of replacing my core support with a new one but not before I reinforced it with 3/16" hot rolled steel rod to 'cure' all the weak points.

Not an easy job but like brain surgery, if broken down to small enough increments, it can be done at home. :)

Both outside radius and inside radius. Won't crack this time. :)

I replaced my core support too, a while ago, but I plated my new one especially in the radiator mount areas. I also used 1/4" bolts to replace the spot welds.
