Yeah, luckily this guy we're using the contractor. He actually lives two doors down from me so I'm pretty sure he's doing his best to make sure everything is right and we're happy  because that's the last thing he wants is to have done a whole remodel on a house that lives two doors down into a bad job. I don't think that's going to be a good outcome

Can anyone tell me what this is? It was in my attic screwed to a board (with flathead screws so it's old). House was built in 1957. Nothing was attached to it. It's about 2"x3" and the only writing is on circuit board, "cat #pa1" "120 volts AC".

Maybe the last remaining vestiges of an intercom system?

Looks kind of like an oldschool doorbell transformer, before they moved to the heavier duty sealed units.

It did have a wired doorbell at one point. But was never wired to this thing. Maybe changed out at a later date to a different wired doorbell.

I bet it's part of an old HAM radio system. Any tower bases on the property?

alright hive mind, before i tear into my axle, has anyone ever warped a drum, and/or do you think that's what im experiencing.....

no noises or indicators of anything while accelerating, maintaining speed, or coasting, but when i brake i have a subtle alternating "wee waw wee waw" sound from the right hub/drum area that correlates to speed. just noise, can't feel anything in the truck or through the brake pedal.

could absolutely be a wheel bearing since I'm still on factory ones at 150k, however I couldn't detect any play in them with the truck in the air. wheel spins true, so it doesn't appear to be a bent axle shaft.

ill put the truck on stands and let it idle in drive to see if there's a visible warp in the drum, but not sure if id be able to see it on the outside with my naked eye. Braking performance seems to be unaffected (so far), but I'm sure it's demolishing the shoe.
