    I have this piece of wood that I cut out two bowl blanks. I was told it was butternut. I don’t think it is butternut. Maybe white oak or ash?

    That top pic looks like it might have .etal in it because of the black streaks. I would scan that with a metal detector
    The grain on the flat doesn't look like ash or oak. It might be butternut.
