It's still bad in tons of places. Greenworks came out to look at removing debris in our area just last week.

I should be able to lift a house now.

So, correct me if I'm crazy here but I had an idea the other day when thinking about using my ATV sprayer. I have it mounted to a 2" receiver hitch which comes up 24" or so to get it at a decent height to spray with the boom nozzle. It kind of wobbles around and I shim it up to make sure it isn't flopping too much.

I thought about buying a cheap receiver used hitch off FB Marketplace and welding it between my ROPS posts. Then I could have a straight 2" hitch on the sprayer carrier and not have a bunch of flopping around. Also reduce the OAL.

Then I got to thinking about all the things I could mount in the ROPS hitch like a toolbox or hitch carrier. I don't think I've seen this done before but it seems like a legit idea. Am I insane here?

I say go ahead and do it. I'd like to see the sprayer in execution before I decide to call it dumb or not.

This is how it was set up for use on one of my GTs in the 3-pt receiver hitch.

I don't weld at all, it's something I've never done. And at 72 years old it's not something I'm going to learn to do. But I do know from reading in various places online that you're not supposed to weld, cut into, or drill into, the ROPS system. If you do ever actually roll over, you want it to protect you as it's designed to do. What I would do if I were you is use some square U-Bolts to attach whatever you need to the ROPS bar.

Putting it between the ROPs would move it a little higher, probably get you a little better spray pattern. As for using the 2" for other things, keep in mind the difficulty in lifting heavy objects like a toolbox that high. But a storage rack might be rather useful outside of spraying season.

Don't weld to the ROPS, use square U bolts instead.

So I have a question, what are the ROPS on tractor or mower? Or did I miss that?

    Roll Over Protective Structure

It is engineered to support the weight of the machine in a roll over situation, any modification to it like drilling or welding voids the engineering and is generally frowned upon.

I have folding rops on my BX and I'm thankful since it can fit in my shed easily, but I also have a tool box on it and it uses a u bolt as previously stated. Question about putting a hitch system that high though.....wouldn't it be a pita to get the tank and stuff up that high? Just wondering.
