Are these Icon add a leafs any good? do they really work, and when getting a suspension on a stock Tacoma do you need to add a leaf? what will happen if you choose not to add a leaf to a suspension?

AAL are band-aid fixes, full leaf replacement is always recommended on Tacomas as the factory leaf pack is not rated for more than a cooler in the bed(they suck)

Disagree. I hauled tons of stuff for the house, kemping, dump and AAL does help OEM leafs

It helps for a limited time, they’ll flatten within a year with normal usage. To each is own, I wouldn’t waste my $ doing the rear 2x.

ICON AAL here…. Works as advertised. Ended up lifting the rear about 1.25”. The rear suspension is more stiff/rigid than before. We pull our boat regularly. No issues at all.

Yes add-a-leaf will increase your spring rate (i.e. stiffen the rear suspension). Whether, you need one or not is up to you, but the fact that you are asking the question suggests to me that you don’t need one. An add-a-leaf is only an upgrade if you actually need a stiffer rear suspension.

Small lift, slightly oversized tires, well...
Add a leaf worked until it didn't. My springs were just about expired when I added though.

I had an AAL in my 2nd gen for years, hauling dirt bikes, and equipment. Never flattened out. Did as advertised. Lifted and stiffened up the too soft rear springs.

I currently have the factory TRD lift in my 3rd gen, that comes with a block for the rear. Will be looking to do another AAL for this truck as well.

Our customers have given us very positive feedback on the Icon AAL. I do recommend adding the Icon shocks along with them for better control and to work with the taller ride height. Message me if you would like a quote.
