The whole conversation is right here in black and white. I made an observation and mused on an offhand theory. You didn't just say you disagreed, like a mature person might've done, you jumped right to trying to belittle me. So maybe take your own damn advice and learn how to have a civil conversation you narcissistic little shit. It's you who needs to grow the fuck up. And yes, we're all aware that there are other assholes in the group who like to be disrespectful. And I don't put up with their shit either. If you want someone to just lie down and let you gaslight them, you'll have to find someone else.

PS, cross rutting requires ruts big enough to capture the tire. There were none there. His wheel may not have locked up, and after looking at the video again it does look like my thought was probably wrong, but there was no crossrut either. Zero percent crossrut. Did not happen. Take the tin foil hat off dude.

Yeah, I looked at the video and my thought doesn't appear to be right. Was just an offhand idea. Such a weird get-off how the bike bucked so wildly like that..

“After inspecting the bike Saturday evening, and reviewing the bike data, we now have a clearer understanding of what led up to Chase’s crash in moto two at Ironman, and I want to clarify that it was neither rider nor mechanic error,” Harrison said in a statement. “Initially, we thought it was a front brake issue, but we now know that debris got into the rear brake system, preventing Chase from activating the rear brake. This forced him to reduce all his speed using only the front brake. We can also see from the bike data that he left the jump on this lap at a much higher rate of speed than at any other lap during the day.

“This issue, in turn, caused Chase to crash. The bike landed on the right side first, which then caused the front brake lever to get packed with mud and activate. Chase was unable to continue because of this. We will actively look for a solution to prevent this from happening again, but as we know, in racing, motocross is tough on the equipment, and when you add the speed and intensity that our riders race at, this exaggerates everything. This was disappointing for both Chase and our team, as well as the fans.”

So it was REAR brake issue and the front wheel lockup was unrelated until he hit the dirt. At which point the front brake lever got packed and locked. explains the trajectory a little better, but what luck to pack a lever so bad with dirt to take yourself out of a race.

The rear brake failed then 50’ later the front brake failed. That sounds totally believable. LOL

maybe CYOA so people don't think their components are bad, but it seems plausible. I want to know what the "track debris was". bc if it was just caked with dirt and not something like a piece of another bike that would be interesting.
either way you were right, he hung em up for the series. going to focus on the SMX title. I would hate to go into the playoffs rusty and following a bonehead crash but thats me. He obviously doesnt mind sitting out and had been running good since back. He just better hope the tracks are east coast dirt bc pala was a disaster

What do you guys think about the “caused the front brake lever to get packed with mud and activate” comment? Where did it get packed and how did it not loosen up and come out when he was flopping around trying to get the bike rolling again and messing with the brake lever? Seems like a two second fix and continue on if that was really the case?

One thing I noticed is if you go back and watch the crash in slow mo, you can see his foot mashing on the rear brake in the air. The tire is stopped when he’s on the lever, then as soon as he slides off it starts spinning again. Doesn’t really answer your question I suppose, but makes it look like the rear brake was still working before he took flight. Front tire wasn’t spinning the whole time tho - maybe because he was grabbing it, maybe not :notsure:

doubtful. I've had a lever stick activated by a rock, perfectly wedged in bc the rubber cover peeled back in the crash. but one touch to the lever and I knew something was off. I feel like a pro rider would know if his front lever was in a weird position. and if the lever felt weird or dead then he would have looked there at least after the first failed restart.

RC and Villipoto think that maybe he was riding the front brake off the face of jump which caused his front tire to not spin in the air and made him lose balance. Hitting the rear brake like you said to try to drop the front end makes sense. The whole thing is very strange. The only thing we know for sure is that Sexton is the most unlucky guy on the track.

You would think that he would check the lever and also the rotor when it’s obvious that the front wheel isn’t turning. Maybe he’s the type of rider that always had a mechanic work on his stuff and knows nothing about fixing bikes?

Most unlucky guy title goes to Forkner. Chase is making a run for the title though!

And then it seized in the air? the lever mud thing sounds made up.

Maybe on the mechanic bit. But even then when you grab the front brake lever and it doesn't feel right you "should know". He looked frustrated, prob wasnt thinking straight. But to not know anything at all I find hard to believe

unlucky but also bonehead. Can help think half the shit he does is self inflicted. Crashed away the Sx title trying to win a single race, cmon man.

    He’s definitely a bone head.
Had KTM said that he broke the front hub or axle on the landing I would believe it. This brake lever story seems fishy though.

It sounds like Roczen is going to race the last couple MX races. That should bring a little more excitement.
