Ah I gotcha. It looks like for my truck it's recommended to use the frame mount ones. Since the camper is about 1k in weight and my trucks bed is aluminum there is worry of it messing up the bed. So it's recommended for the frame mounts. The shitty thing is taking them on and off...

Yeah, the frame mounts are a pita to install and remove. I also added two mounts up front that go thru the bed direct to the frame, utilizing a pair of bed drain holes that was already there, don't know if you have that or not. Prolly best to mount them as recommended. I used a universal type and ignored the recommendations. Hasn't fallen off yet and I have wheeled with it.
There is also a clip system that mounts to the inside front of the box, that might be an option.

If you're talking about the external mounts, like with turnbuckles, the fastguns take like 2 seconds to remove each.

Haha ya fair! I did find this company that is a frame mount that you drill holes in the bed for.

    https://torkliftcentral.com/f5000-p

I might go that route if the camper I look at I want.

I've seen plenty of modern campers that would use this style, they have a little plate that opens in the camper to release the turnbuckles hidden away in between camper and bedside. Much easier than trying to blindly fumble around in there, lol.

Ya the external ones that bolt to your frame. I'm trying to find something that doesn't stick off my frame out past my bed personally haha. Plus IDK why! But they are 800 bucks for the mount that's wild to me lol.

I did find a kit that bolts to the frame but you have to drill holes in the bed to allow it to poke through which wouldn't be a problem tbh.

    What's the fastgun?

Engineering isn't free. And those things bolt on without drilling your frame, instead of the old fashioned way of welding and weakening frames, or drilling them.

With a camper that heavy on a half ton truck, you might also have to invest in some air bags, especially after it's loaded with gear, water is heavy, and if you pull your trailer with the bikes.

Cross between a binder jack and a turnbuckle. They have a spring in them too to give a camper a little more room to flex. Some campers warranty are only valid when using Fastguns. Regular turnbuckles can be too stiff and when your truck is twisting around it can bust the camper itself.

Unreliable? I know the XB models were crazy sensitive to suspension settings but not aware of any major issues affecting reliability. Basic engine is Sportster based but breathed on.

Torklift Central... I had been looking at their stuff a bunch the last couple years as I plan our F450 build... I only recently realized that I've driven past it 100 times. TORKLIFT on CENTRAL is like 3 miles from me in Kent. I never realized.

I mean ya just odd to be that much.
Thankfully my truck has a payload of 3300 because of the access cab so the weight won't be much for my truck. I do agree with airbags but I'll get the ras system instead.
    Ooh interesting
Ya tbh it's a Harley at the end of the day... Even my uncle who owned one and only drives Harley his buell was always at the shop. My buddy's xb12 vibrates it self to death... The motor runs and seems to be fine but he wouldn't know since anytime he takes it out something breaks on it and puts it back on the lift.
Ya I was looking at them. The other ones I found also has my interest because it keeps it all confined in the bed but still mounts to the frame and is also 450 bucks cheaper! But wait and see! My concern with the og frame mounts is then snagging on things... Ya I'm not wheeling my truck but I'd like it to be capable for some light duty stuff on trails that are well forest service style haha.

Back to bikes here, Harley's are far from unreliable. My old 1990 Sportster had over 100K on it, and was only in the shop for speed upgrades. My Heritage Softail was never in the shop, sold it at 23k, My Dyna was also never in the shop and I bought it not running and resurrected it with a good tank cleaning. Really not sure why HD gets all the hate for reliability, other than maybe the AMF years.

That's good. Everyone in my family that has had a Harley has had nothing but issues. Couldn't tell you what they were since I don't remember lol. I just know 9-10 if you asked hey where is your bike? Oh it's in the shop again...

So my personal experience with them has been pretty trash and no offense to those that own one but you couldn't pay me to own one lol.

The biggest issue with most Harleys not being reliable is their owners. I worked for a dealership for almost 16 years part time and saw it constantly. Left alone most were pretty reliable with just normal routine maintenance. Start trying to get more power out of them and you should expect the life expectancy and reliability to change. I've got a friend who has 333k on a Sportster. I follow a guy on FB who bought a brand new Road Glide, put on a few break in miles then went out and put 100k miles on it in 100 days raising money for a rare form of Muscular Dystrophy.

If you're buying a bike with performance as a priority a Harley shouldn't be your top choice. It is possible to pull bigger power from one but accept it's limitations.

Small lift, slightly oversized tires, well...
I know a guy with 3 XBs. He beats them like red-headed step-children...track days and such. He said the only problems he's had is he had to freshen up the top end sooner than normal, which is understandable with an air-cooled bike.
