I drove from Raleigh to Charlotte after adjusting my drums, smelled hot brakes but didn't think much of it, the next day the passenger drum was locked to the shoes. No warping or noises after freeing it up and replacing melted wheel seal. I know it's only one instance

No smells here. I shot each drum with the laser after a drive home today and they were both the same temperature and well under a concerning number. New drums were put on less than a year ago, so wondering if it was warped out of the box, and just now has worn down enough of the brake shoe to make the noticable noise.

If the shoes aren't worn all funky, thats a good test. Hoping i can just see clear evidence when I pull the drum.

if it was a warped rotor. You would have some braking vibration, especially in your seat area. You would feel it the most could be a bad wheel bearing

So the spurlock reccomennded course of action would be to replace rhe bearings and seals, and just inspect the brakes as I tear it all down?

Well dammit Adam, you left me unsupervised for a few hours and I went downhill fast. Within the next week I have new axle shafts for both sides all new bearings and seals, a rear disc brake kit and dual hydraulic hand brakes showing up.

Damn yea I don't blame you on that. I know the one that I've been looking at from East Coast gear supply with it fully built Dana 60 ready to go in it's right at $5600

Yeah, I did their calculator out of curiosity. $5500-8000 'for the 60, and $8000-9000 for the Dana 80. Downside is I'd still have to molest either of those adding my bracketry

Awesome option for a more stock geometry truck.

Anyone looking for fj cruiser t case for their tacoma? I've got one, in excellent condition, shifter, shifter boot, rubber boot and metal plate. Bought it awhile back to swap into my tacoma, but I no longer have the tacoma. The fj had 107k miles
