Man...I've found it worth the drive to inspect the part you're getting before you accept it, regardless of the junkyard/wrecker/part out guy you're going with. Just like buying a vehicle sight unseen, there's a lot of variability in condition of one part to the next and the risk of getting something you're not happy with is that much higher just based on someone else's description of it.

    Most yards give a warranty
They are usually short and basic, but getting a faulty part is not uncommon, they don’t really test most parts and the vehicle they are pulling it from was most likely in a crash

Bummer. They shipped mine across the country from warehouse to warehouse for free years ago. Looks like their prices have almost tripled on these cases too. I paid $250, shipped.

Just caught up reading this thread but when I converted my truck to 4wd I got a tcase from that same place and it was $250 shipped for a used 70k miles case from a 2011 or 2013 4Runner
And this was in early 2020
Had it shipped to my shop

    these prices are insane

Local wreckers aren't always as keen to these swaps as LKQ. I got a 2020 4Runner's with less than 18k on it for $400 post-COVID. It's possible. You just gotta be patient and a little lucky

Too bad you are on the other coast. I've got one I bought awhile back, no longer have the taco and will be posting it for sale.
