Pictures are of the drivers door about midway on the opening side. I don't wish to replace it yet as this is the only failure. Probably happened with something sharp was dragged against the B-Piller. Material is very thin at this point and I see little possibilities for glueing. Any suggestions?

I don't know brother, that looks like it's pretty much trashed. Take a shot with some sort of rubber friendly adhesive is all I can think of.

But then again, what the hell do I know?

A few people on the forum have replaced theirs and discussed the process. Part is around $50 if I remember correctly.

So far I'll probably just do some adhesive work with a backer rod to make it look good and hopefully not catch on anything else. Unless there are more suggestions.

Replace it now while it's still available. Seriously.

Something to be said about that. Seems like everything gets discontinued sooner than I’d like.

Maybe bookmark this 2nd Gen video in case you do decide to replace the weatherstripping in the future.

    ^^^ This^^^

I would add: "before the price triples" (or worse). Weather-strip pieces are ridiculous expensive. I tried fixing a finger-tip sized tear in the door weatherstrip from the seat belt getting caught/jammed when the door was closed. (before I bought it) I used a tooth-pick and 3M weatherstrip adhesive. I'm fussy when it comes to fixing this kind of stuff. It secured the tear, but it looks kind of crappy and the adhesive gradually gives up over time and I have to re-do it.

Thanks for the video, but wrong weather strip. This is just a trim piece of stripping on the outside edge between the two doors on my Access Cab. The Access Cab still has the strip shown in the video, but not involved in this failure yet.

My piece seems like it is double backed taped into place. After looking over the job this morning I think my alignment with a reinstall would/will not be as good as just a repair.

I'm more of a function guy, than an aesthetics guy, but do like to see how well I can do a job. I think you are on to something with the seatbelt - it lines up very well where that would hit the edge of the door. I know I have closed the door on the seatbelt before, many times.

The black 3M weather strip adhesive is an excellent product and when you apply it according to the directions and use it as intended: It will hold a complicated weather strip in place around the corners and straights on the vehicle body for years. The yellow adhesive is excellent as well, if they still make it and is even more tenacious for hold.
