IMG_5122.jpg Time to install a new upgraded turbo on the Ram. Figured I might as well upgrade the exhaust manifold as well since they are known to crack, new one is a 2 piece slip fit so it can move during heat cycles without killing itself.
Turbo was only making 21psi max and my exhaust brake would barely function. So either the vane controller is dying, the turbo is full of carbon and the turbo has 225k on it so she’s tired!!

So might as well get a bigger turbo and a better flowing manifold.
And while I’m in there it’s a good time to install studs for more clamping pressure since this new turbo can make an easy 40psi of I have the tuner on the higher levels.

Still waiting on the new turbo drain tube setup but that will be here Monday, I’ve got plenty to do until then.

Oh boy does the truck run better now, makes 30psi almost instantly and the torque is massively improved. The old turbo was worn out but the new one spools even faster (likely due to the upgraded 2 piece exhaust manifold) super stoked that its almost fully dialed now.
The exhaust brake is pretty darn nice too, it was hardly noticeable before even on full but now it works great like it's supposed to.

Hope everyone has an awesome weekend, at least it cooled down a bit, last few days were brutal!

That dirt is a pain to get off. The pictures always make it look like neglect. Never been to the Texas panhandle area. I heard the dirt is good out there. How was the adventure park?

Anytime Sid! Happy to help, and super stoked on the Tuna, makes some AWESOME Sushi!
Always good seeing you again, when it cools down we gotta go to the dez again, maybe I'll set up a meet in Ocotillo Wells for the TW peeps and we can go play in the dirt.
I finally got some ground asphalt, its all laid and packed next to the shop so I can have more covered parking spots and I the ground wont be dirt so that's a plus.
Ground asphalt works pretty good as long as you pack it down on a hot day, and since I used my Diesel I think the almost 8K# packs it down pretty darn well!

Gonna go start laying out all the framework for my 20 x 20 x 13 carport and since I have 2 and might just butt them up for one long 40' carport. Gets tricky setting it all up solo but Im sure Ill figure it out, this one is bigger than the others so Ill have to get creative when I'm trying to get the roof connected to the legs, that's always the tricky part.

You likely already know this but that dirt is orange since it has a high iron content and that color comes from iron oxide better known as rust.

That's one of the reasons it sticks so well is that it's iron infused, lol. If you leave it on certain areas long enough it becomes part of the vehicle and can start to etch its way into things.

Start with the roof then add the legs... I think that would work

Well I got the roof frame built and got 3 layers of the paneling down yesterday now I need some help tilting it up and putting the legs on, I was thinking about trying to rig up my backhoe in order to lift it but we shall see.
Probably gonna go to the harbor in an hour or two for some fish and chips since its my Bday and then Ill try and see if I can figure out how to lift that carport after lunch. If you are free later lemme know, thanks bud!

Well holy crap, It is way too hot to work at the moment, over 100 degrees down at the shop. We have a slight breeze but it feels like a blowdryer so not helping much.

Guess I'll have to wait till this evening and work at night where my brain still functions properly.

Hope all you guys are doing well and not melting like I am! I keep threatening to get a mini split to actually have AC since all I have in my house is ceiling fans and a whole home fan that only helps when the outside temp is low enough to cool things off.

At least I got one of my Carports done last night aside from the anchoring trying to reduce the possibility of it becoming a giant destructive KITE! Been working on it in the evenings after working on Toyotas chipping away.
Gotta start assembling the 2nd one so I can butt them up and have a 20x40 Carport, thats gonna be nice having a large area with some shade so any vehicles I have don't just fade away in all the bitchin' UV radiation we have here, lol.
