Lights Mysteriously Came on

I have a 2021 Toyota Tacoma, barebones, not many extra features. Suddenly yesterday the "passenger airbag off" light came on even though my 175 lb son was sitting in the seat.

Then when I turned the car off there was a blinking red security light, right next to it, that came on and I have never seen this before. If I have some kind of security feature, I am unaware of it, which is possible.

Did I somehow bump something that caused this? The only thing I can think of is that I was stung by a bee and was sitting in my truck with the door open trying to get a look at my foot. I had my foot on the door and at some point I accidentally hit the horn, so I could have bumped something then. As for the airbag light, I have an extender attached for the seatbelt to make it easier for my elderly father to buckle up, but I do not see how that would cause the airbag to turn off.

I turn things on and off on my phone all of the time and don't know how I did it, so I am wondering if I did the same in the car.

    Any ideas?

Take the extender out and see if anything changes the the airbag light

Push button start? Flashing key is normal.

The red flashing light is normal, it's to let you know the immobilizer is recognizing the key.

The orange light next to the red flashing light comes on when someone is in the passenger seat to let you know the airbag is active. Take a closer look, you might be mistaking the airbag on indicator for an airbag off warning.

Thank you. I never noticed the red flashing light before. That is weird. The airbag light said off 2, even when my son was sitting in the seat, but tonight it says on, so I don't know. We both saw the "off2" so it wasn't just me. I'm going to keep an eye.

    Couldn’t resist…

Not much cause for concern here with current symptoms. How old is your battery? Battery issue can manifest in weird ways.

Remove the extender, if you see another issue, consider replacing battery (check how old it is, should be a sticker on the battery with date stamp).
