Anyone have this? Im buying it for my Tacoma (my whore :D) because I want to buy a Extang Trifecta and I KNOW it will be stolen if I dont have an alarm. But does anyone know if the alarm will sound if the tailgate is opened? Just looking for the best option to go with.

Just need to install tailgate pins. They will make the alarm sound if the gate is open while the alarm is on.

How much does this alarm run for? I'm looking to get one as well but don't know what I should be looking for...

Forgot to mention tail gate pins should be able to be added to most if not all aftermarket alarms. So you don't have to get this alarm to get this function.

Yea, all you need is a couple of hood pins or really just one...You can use that or you can use a mercury tilt switch, both would be effective. Try going to your local BBY install bay and ask for a couple, I'm sure they have some lying around. If you can find any PM me, I have a ton of them lying around, I'll send one out to you.

I have no clue. I like just the regular alarm though. I had a 2-way viper LCD one on my old truck but it didnt really do anything special.

If you're referring to SmartStart, the 350 Plus is not compatible with it. The only security systems (w/o remote start) that will work with SmartStart are the 3203 and 3303

From what I've read the stated range with just the security system is 2,000ft, but with remote start it's a mile. I think it depends on it's sensitivity as well. My dad has the Python 333 on his Mustang (pretty much the same as the 3303 since it's part of DEI as well) and he gets good readings from his parking garage at work even though it's through a lot of walls.

I'm not technically savvy on how all that works, if someone chimes in I'm kind of curious about the range thing as well

I'm not sure if this is relevant but I had a viper 5901 on my old car with remote start that claimed to have a 1 mile range. If I was out in the open and could see my car sometimes I could start/unlock my car from over a mile away (such as on top of a ski mountain)... Although if I was in a wal mart and parked in the front row 100 ft away it wouldn't pick it up due to the walls.

Ok yeah that's what I was told too due to the line of sight deal. But were you still getting status readings even though you couldn't start/unlock it?

Edit: Oh and how did you like the 5901?

Not sure exactly what you mean by status readings but everything would be normal except for when I tried to start it or unlock it it would attempt but couldn't reach the car so would give an error beep.

I loved the 5901... I'm planning on getting it again or the compustar equivalent.

Are you able to get remote start on manual transmissions?

Oh by the status readings I meant was your fob still showing that your vehicle was locked and armed even though you were out of range to start/unlock it? I guess if you were getting an error beep it wouldn't be able to show you the status either:confused:

yes... Some shops won't install it on manuals but most will. You do have to do a little set up every time you park though. For example on my car I had to put foot on brake, pull ebrake, foot off brake, hit remote start button, then i could turn the car off and get out. Sounds complicated but it becomes second nature and it is completely worth it. Remote start is the shit.

It was still showing it was locked and armed yea but I couldn't tell you if it would notify you it was being broken into since that never happened to me. But you would definitely hear your alarm if you were in a store. If you are more then a mile away though you're probably SOL in being notified its going off but a blinking led and loud alarm is enough to deter 90% of theifs that are just looking for a quick grab. The other 10% are going to steal your shit no matter what if they want.
