Been chasing an issue, quick rundown:

    • only squeals in drive, can hear the shift from park to drive in the videos
    • stops after around 40-45mph
    • all belts have been tightened
    • trans fluid changed twice (not flushed) it was clean
    • checked trans and motor mounts, while old there was not excessive movement on throttle in reverse or drive
    • no issues drive wise the last 2,000 miles with the sound, just wanting to figure out what it is
    • 2001 Tacoma 4WD V6 200k miles

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    I dont hear a squeak...
    I hear a whine....
    Get a mechanics stethoscope..
    Could be an alternator..
    possibly ac compressor, ps pump...
    ide start with alternator.

Squeal not squeak, you can hear the tone change when it goes from park to drive, the pitch changes.

I checked the belts on the alternator, AC compressor and power steering last night, belts are new and tensioned properly.

could be a bearing whine from the actual component....
see if tone changes by flashing your high beams....
diodes go bad in alternators & cause a loud whine noise...
or bad bearing on backside of alternator.
im hearing a hum / whine
    not a squeak / squeal
but, its a video, always different than in person.....

listen with both attachments till you truly isolate, especially cuz its subtle...
I diagnosed engine noises for a living, its what I did...
Someone telling you its this or that from the video & you just rolling the dice & replacing it with someones suggestion without them actually putting their ear on it, is considered throwing the parts cannon at it...
first video, loud whine noise 30-34 seconds.... to me sounds like bad diodes in alternator, but need to scope it

Oh yeah, will not be throwing any parts at it immediately, just trying the free things first.

I will give this a shot as well. Thank you.
