The wrecks wouldn't be as much of an impediment either. I mean people would likely still run into each other, but then they would just spiral to the ground out of everyone else's way. I predict traffic congestion would have been much smoother flying.

 

I don't know; can you imagine 100's of "asshole flyers" buzzing around?

Roundabouts work, much faster than 4 way stops or stop lights. **** stupid Americans who do not know to use them. I've used 2 and 3 lane roundabouts. They just work. But it requires drivers to use turn signal before you enter the circle and before you exit. 99% of US drivers do not know what a turn signal is.

Roundabouts... I don't hate them, many of them are made to small for large American trucks. But then the Brits took a decent idea and then went nuts with it!

So it is a 5 street intersection. If it is not a stacked roundabout like that, it would have to be a something like this:

Roundabout rules are not taught in Driver's Ed and are not part of the paper or road tests.

 

It doesn't work b/c DOTs shouldn't be trying to change the driving culture or sending 53 - 60 ft semis through the stupid fucking things.

1/2 the people stop at the roundabout.

1/2 the people try to cut in and not yield.

Another bunch think you signal in the roundabout. You don't signal, the rule is yield to the left oncoming traffic, it's not rocket science.

And Americans hate them. Which is a good enough reason not to have them.

Any gas "saved" in a roundabout is lost with the ethanol mandate which kills mileage 5-10% vs. real gas. Every vehicle I have had has lost about 10% gas mileage with ethanol blend. It's a racket. Nothing more.
