So much promise. My commute would be so much easier had these taken off. *cymbal shot*

The wrecks wouldn't be as much of an impediment either. :plane: I mean people would likely still run into each other, but then they would just spiral to the ground out of everyone else's way.:nuclear: I predict traffic congestion would have been much smoother flying.:anonymous:

I don't know; can you imagine 100's of "asshole flyers" buzzing around?

Roundabouts work, much faster than 4 way stops or stop lights. **** stupid Americans who do not know to use them. I've used 2 and 3 lane roundabouts. They just work. But it requires drivers to use turn signal before you enter the circle and before you exit. 99% of US drivers do not know what a turn signal is.

Roundabouts... I don't hate them, many of them are made to small for large American trucks. But then the Brits took a decent idea and then went nuts with it! :goingcrazy:

So it is a 5 street intersection. If it is not a stacked roundabout like that, it would have to be a something like this:

Paris, the infamous Arc de Triomphe.

Roundabout rules are not taught in Driver's Ed and are not part of the paper or road tests.

It doesn't work b/c DOTs shouldn't be trying to change the driving culture or sending 53 - 60 ft semis through the stupid fucking things.

1/2 the people stop at the roundabout.

1/2 the people try to cut in and not yield.

Another bunch think you signal in the roundabout. You don't signal, the rule is yield to the left oncoming traffic, it's not rocket science.

And Americans hate them. Which is a good enough reason not to have them.

Any gas "saved" in a roundabout is lost with the ethanol mandate which kills mileage 5-10% vs. real gas. Every vehicle I have had has lost about 10% gas mileage with ethanol blend. It's a racket. Nothing more.

you signal to let people waiting to enter the roundabout know you're exiting, thus making it more efficient

There's a roundabout that I go through frequently it often backs up because of the light a block a way.

Last night there was a car in the left lane cruising the entire time with their passenger side signal on. This was behind the car that wasn't passing slower traffic and driving with no lights on at all. I look over at the driver of the car with the signal on, oh she's screeaming into the phone no wonder they have no idea what is going on.

I have 4 small roundabouts in my neighbourhood and have taken my truck and trailer through every one with no problems.

There's a roundabout right next to our local Costco that semis routinely go through on their way to make their deliveries with no problems.

My Wife dailys a BRZ. It is the only car we have with the gas filler on the pass side. All the other four are on the Driver's side.

I've been though some that were not so great. Tacoma built a bunch of them in old neighborhoods that were not meant to have them.

Traffic Circles, aka 'Glorietas' are fine by me.
Some residential neighborhoods have them to control the speed of traffic on their streets and discourage street racing.
Sedona, AZ has a lot of them.

That inner circle gets landscaped or signed and can be made to look pretty cool.

In Puerto Penasco, MX., I pass through a good amount of them.
I like the way Glorietas slow drivers down and require driver to concentrate on driving.
And no RYG speed light electronics.
