They're ripe when the figs stem droops and the fig is soft. Peak sweet doesn't occur until peak droop. Get in to too big a hurry and they won't be they're best. And do not improve once picked. Some will oooze a spot of juice when max ripe. At that point another organism will be calling. Ants are tell tale.

It’s reliable here. And pretty popular as far as I can tell.

it’s figgy- not like super duper purple figs I had as a kid in California but just fine. These need ripen some more. Kind of light purple reddish when ripe not green figs like my granny grew

 

One of 3 muscadines that fruited is changing colors...still a ways to go though. I did try one of the ripest ones.

 

Your soil and leaves looks so healthy. Are you near Utica?

Doods (and fine ladies) I have figs everyday currently. Again it's thanks to all of you. But you figgy guys fixed me!!

Got 2 12qt pots of tomato sauce cooking down. Still 4-- gallon ziplock bags in freezer...

 

Picked (2) 5 gal pails of muscadine yesterday. It’s going to be made into kombucha. This is a little left field for us.

 

Fascinating! How does THAT work???
