    i have a 2005 2.7, and was wondering what is the best spark plug i can put in my truck. thanks for any input.

    I just orderd densos, the oem ones are around 3 dollars each, these ones where almost 21 dollars each but have a 100,000 mile lifspan. Good ill never have to change them again haha. What does everyone else run? These are platinum iridiums.

    The platinum iridiums are not recomended, and a few people have had deteriorating performance when useing this type of plug. Best performance in the 1GR-FE is with OEM nickle plugs.

    Check the gap on those plugs @ 30,000 miles, and you will be supprised.

    looks like ill be getting OEM, i thought i would be doing a good thing by getting $15+ a peice spark plugs. thanks for the input

    The 2.7 does use iridium plugs, so depending on what you are looking at, it may be what the truck is designed for.

    No. The 2.7 uses Iridium plugs and the interval is 100,000 miles. The 4.0 v6 yses Nickel Benso (which is a good plug) and NGK (which is so so).
    The factory uses plugs with the propper resistance and designed for optimum performance with its ingnition system. Many times, throwing in a different plug, i.e., an platinum plug when an Nickel plug is called for, give less performance because the platinum plug runs at a different resistance. Now days, ignition systems arent like the old distributer and capacitor therefore a better plug yeilds better performance. Everything is electronically controlled, and engineered to work as well together as possible. Just use what the owners manual says, and you will be fine.

    ^ Why change them out if they're still good? Why not just follow the manual and change them out when they need to be changed out? I suppose you think you know more than the Toyota engineers?

    no i dont, I"m just a poor kid working at a NAPA lol.. but do you really think a 3$ spark plug can really last 60,000 miles at PEAK performance???. I bet you an NGK can deffently last that long.. But will it still be performing as it did new? From personal experience I've found having newer plugs have kept me from losing one. If i'm going on a road trip I would rather have plugs with 5,000 miles on them and not 55,000...


    Whats the BEST plug for a 02 3.4L??? just standard OEM? or has anyone tried the V powers or anything??

    From everything I have heard/done, the OEM twin ground Densos are the best. People have had poor performance when useing other plugs. Also, no matter what the box says, be sure to gap the plugs @ .040.

    Standard OEM plugs were meant to be changed out at every 30K miles (at least for the 5vz-fe I had), not sure where you got your 60K mile figure from.

    Sorry to resurrect such an old thread but I was wondering about the spark plugs in my 06 2.7L. The OEM documentation recommends changing the spark plugs at 120k.
