My gaskets tore apart the first time I took the drums off to inspect the brakes. I razer bladed/wire brushed the rest of it off, painted on a thin coat of silver anti-sneeze on the mating surfaces, and called it good. That paper gasket was already causing the drums to rust.

Nice... i just purchased this same TGP setup as well, was on sale plus a coupon made it $356 shipped. Not bad for a massive upgrade in sound quality over the OEM speakers

Can you take pics showing where you put deadening material? Thx. I got a box of material in shed, can you convince me to start this project?

I did something with my Tacoma that I was hoping to never have to do again...road trip with no AC.

I daily drive my truck about a 1,000 miles/month and of course my AC chooses to die 100 miles into my 2500 mile road trip to Texas but at least it's only 100f outside :(

If it would have failed at home last week I could have gotten it fixed for free under warranty. The dealers I called in Texas said 3-5 days for a fix and I don't want to pay out of pocket for a independent shop to fix it. So I will suffer for a week until I get home to have it fixed.

    PXL_20250816_215410503.jpg

Look at that lazy bastard sitting there doing nothing and making me sweat. But on the bright side of all the belt driven parts on the engine the AC is the only one that isn't critical so at least it didn't leave me stranded.

Been seeing a lot of clutch failures lately which is pretty cheap and easy to replace, curious what it ends up being

It might just be the clutch. It tries to engage but drags and burns the belt.
I might stop at a shop in Austin to see if that is the issue and see if it can be replaced without messing with the compressor.
I wouldn't mind spending a few hundred dollars to get the clutch fixed but a new compressor and system charge I'm sure will be $1500.
I have seen the 2nd gen can be fixed fairly easily but I haven't seen anything about the 3rd gen.

If I was staying in one place in Texas I definitely would get it fixed but I am hopping from Austin to San Antonio to Corpus Christi.

I was planning on driving all of Padre Island so depending on how hot it is I might cut that part short.
Everything else is short drives or driving early morning or at night.

Drove some of I-5 in the past couple days. Truck handles well, road is crap.
Then aomeone pointed out to me that my tonneau cover is pretty crappy.
IMG_2786.jpgso I got a new one from rough country. IMG_2876.jpgIt’s the hard roll up cover. Pretty sure there is one, or two places in the states that make tonneau covers. They are all pretty similar in build quality. The edges are a little rough, and the general finish needs some weathering to polish it. Cfx 35 dometic just fits under the cover, with enough room to slide 2 sheets of paper in between, most likely not 3 sheets.

I need to do the throwout bearing at some point... and if I'm doing it might as well do the clutch at the same time. No hurry, though, I can handle some squeaking.

Kind of in the same boat here. I did however change the diff fluid front and back, rotate tires, and do an oil change. And sweated my balls off doing it, but when it's time it's time.

Yeah its basically the same as the 2nd gen think oem clutch is like $150 and an aftermarket was $50, seems they dont like getting wet kinda silly on an "offroad vehicle" but everything today is made like crap. I do not think the dealer will just replace the clutch if it is the issue which like you said will be a 15-1800 repair for a compressor and recharge.

Small lift, slightly oversized tires, well...
Not the clutch. If it tries to engage and starts dragging the belt, the compressor is locked.

Where are you going to get a '19 fixed under warranty?

    Here they are @2k2
IMG_2877.jpgOddly this is the auto setting and when the switch is on it’s dimmer I looked up in there at it, and less leds are lit when it’s switched on. Don’t know what’s with that. But they are 1st gen meso pods.
and then here is some Vleds stuck here and there. IMG_2880.jpg

You know what, I was thinking that last night. It seemed like they were dimmer than usual, when I was taking pics with them in the on position. Hm weird. Maybe they got the settings backwards. A wire crossed. Seems like it should be the other way around..

And side note, I wanna get some knuckle pods. Little single led pods that are mounted to the inside of the hub. So they illuminate where the wheels turn.

Edit: nope, my meso pods don't do that. Must be like you said and something to do with an older version.. Idk. Didnt know they had a change in their design. Mine are fully lit either way.

I have the extended warranty. So the dealer I bought from would be free to replace it or any other Toyota dealer would be $100

I might have to make some splash guards to try and keep it dry. I thought about it when I installed the high clearance bumper but figured I it's been soaked pretty bad splashing puddles when off roading some rain won't hurt.

And speaking of lights, took some output shots tonight. Nowhere near being finished with my lighting setup. Lots to do yet and other mods are taking priority. But not too shabby to start. The diode dynamic max fogs blow everything else outta the water. Ha. They do pair extremely well with the morimoto evos tho, which are pretty impressive by themselves too!

Plan to get more diode dynamics lights all around. I've always been obsessed with anything lighting related. Tried many different lights on my 1st gen. From offroad lighting to headlight retrofits. But never splurged a lot on the "good" name brand lights. However, the lights I did have were quite impressive even being clones of name brand lights, for a fraction of the price. But, I'm going all out this time. And im stoked to see how it turns out when all is said and done. Because its taking hold of me all over again with my 3rd gen now.

    Current setup:
    - morimoto xb Evo's w/Supercharged drivers
-diode dynamics max fogs (SAE pattern)
    -diode dynamics ssc2 pros (Combo)
    -diode dynamics c1r reverse pod(w/brake+flash)
    -morimoto tails
    -morimoto 3rd brake light(w/flash)
    -meso puddle pods
-32" Auxbeam led light bar (5D combo. Sucks. Will be replacing it with a DD when they release their new ones)
-Auxbeam bluetooth 8gang switch panel w/remote (controlled via head unit)

And some similar shots from my 1st gen a while back. Trying to surpass this. Lol.

Wholly moly. You must get drivers flashing you all the time, thinking you've got your High beams on. Am I right?
