This happened while airing up the tires on my Dad's old Chevy yesterday (with my Viair 300P). I'm not sure what happened. My only guess is that maybe I didn't have a great connection at the battery, leading to a voltage drop causing a higher current draw. :notsure:

I'll replace the fuse holder and hope the motor is still good. I'll probably bypass the fuse just to check before I do that.

Side note: anybody in the market for a farm truck? :D

Yikes! That's kinda scary it didn't blow the fuse before the holder melted.

Let's see your "Made in USA" inflator.

It's almost as if the fuse holder isn't actually designed to hold 40 amps.

Oddly, the inflator itself is rated at 30 amps Max, but it came with a 40 amp fuse. I may just put a 30 amp fuse holder with a 30 amp fuse on it and see how it holds up.

    There's a 100amp and a 40amp inline, I think that 88p is also *30 amps max. (*edit it's 20 amps)
When sizing wire for automotive I lean toward a size bigger than 'suggested'.

The Dortios that you bring to Tigerton, where are they made?
Are they made here or Taiwan? If they are made in Taiwan, they probably have fewer ingredients than the ones made here.

So, I've been thinking...(I know, scary)

The idea of an oil catch can for those times of steep climbs keeps popping into my head. I don't think I've needed one, but the stories of guys hydro-locking their engines due to oil pooling in the back of the head and getting sucked through the PCV makes one wonder.

With the added electrics under the hood, real estate is kinda limited. RM Engineering has this: https://rmengineeringoffroad.com/products/16-23-tacoma-pcv-reroute-kit as an option (well, site says sold out). I kinda like the idea, but 1) it's a bit of overkill, and 2) you need a wrench to take off your oil fill cap.

I'm wondering why a person couldn't drill a hole in the oil fill tube, maybe on top so oil doesn't get into the PCV every time you add oil, buy a new PCV and grommet, insert the grommet into the fill tube and stick the PCV into the new grommet? Then just get a new hose to re-route to the intake and cap off the original. Hell, with as convenient as the new position would be, you could easily pull the PCV out for oil fills if you were paranoid enough.

Am I thinking stoopid? What do you smart people think? (I'm probably going to do it anyhow, just to see if it will work. :p)
