A tree branch fell on the truck the other night and I wanted to know if you think this is worth saving, if I could maybe try to fix it up myself, or how much it might cost at a collision repair shop. This is the only damage from the fallen branch.
    Any ideas would be appreciated

    Horrible picture...
I retract my statement thats the roofline of the extra cab.....
    Thats extensively mangled!!!
Front door isnt even aligning correctly any longer..
    Professional bodyshop....
Chances are if you go through insurance they will total the truck...
That is 100% total if you go through insurance & a very costly repair, wont make financial sense...

"What would this cost to fix?" There's about 3 dozen variables involved in this equation, none of which can be determined from the pic you provided. Clean it off, take some more pix, and lots of us can speak to repairability, but for someone to tell you with any degree of accuracy (not dumb luck) what it might cost, they'd need to know the labor and paint/material rates, sales tax rate (if any), what tax is charged on (everything, or just parts/materials), paint code, etc...

Picture is kinda to close up. From what I can tell it needs more work than any body shop will want to do. Fixable yes, but it looks really deep like the inner structure is going to be damaged too. Most body shops won't want to touch that on such an old vehicle. It would be cheaper to find another cab and swap cabs.

More work than a bodyshop is willing / want to do?
Bodyshops will fix anything, well atleast where I live in San Diego....
Thats not a job, lets pound & hammer it straight & throw some filler to make it right...

That will cost & here, nobody shop will turn it down, but you or insurance will pay dearly....
My guess no parts available to fix it, need the roof skin & structure underneath it....

You’re right, honestly at 250k miles it’s almost certain this is totaled especially after looking closely at other angles, and the fact that there’s a gap in the rear window seal.
I thought I uploaded more photos but it appears only 1 is showing.

I can’t see myself going through the hassle with how it seems so for now I’m just gonna run her to the ground, throw some duct tape on it and pray she makes it to 300k

Okay that picture doesn't look as bad. You could have the panel replaced and a new roof skin. I would probably pull the headliner and see if I could make it better. With the mileage I wouldn't pay to have that fixed unless you plan to keep it forever.

Some insurance companies, will total it & pay you off, allow you to keep it, & you will have a salvaged title, big deal....
It will be no fault to you....
I just went through this with my 00 expedition.
It was parked on the street unacupied & was ran into...
Frame was bent so his insurance company totaled it.
I recieved $5300 for the total & was told I can keep it for free, no extra charge.
They also lined up a wrecking yard to come get it if I didnt want it & wrecking yard gave me an additional $400.

Truck was worthless to me & un-driveable with the bent frame.

Ins will Total her out 100%

Mainly bc a run/drive Tacoma with roof dmg will fetch over 50% salvage value of ACV

    big job
Best to get LKQ roof with r C pillar
    RI:
    Windshield
    Bed
    Back glass/cab glass
    Doors
    Then paint

    sucks.
Ins comp rather pay you $10k and then make $5k on salvage sale

    I really like Turbosix’s idea

    retain salvage
    Drop full coverage
    Maintenance Her

Yep they totaled my 93 with 214k miles. I drove it away, but the roof did it in.

i was a total loss adjuster for a good bit of time.

no reason to have full coverage on anything that old.

also he salvage title thing is not 100%. every state is different. i would make sure to ask the adjuster in writing if they will submit a form to the state that requires you to deal with that bullshit.

make them CONFIRM. a lot of them are fucking idiots and will cause a whole issue that will have to be dealt with lter.

Anything can be repaired it just depends on how well you like the truck and how deep your pockets are.
