About six months ago, my windshield wipers started hopping pretty much all the time but sometimes a little less so than others. Its really annoying. Any suggestions?
When it started, I just assumed that I needed new wipers.
    I have tried:
    -Bought Bosch ICON-medium priced
    -Thoroughly cleaned windshield
    -Rain X
-Bought expensive $80 wipers. I think silicone but cant remember
-Ceramic coated which I was planning on doing anyway.
    -Thoroughly cleaned
    -Aquapel-made it worse.

I've never seen anything like this. Everywhere I look people mostly say the things I've tried. The one thing I haven't tried is the spring tensioner. Also, maybe adjusting the angle, but I'm not sure what that exactly means and before I go bending something I figured I would ask here.

You can’t go wrong with OEM wiper blades.

I have two Tacomas and I have always used OEM with zero issues.

That's grease/oil on the windshield. Clean it and the blades with a light degreaser or alcohol and you should be good.

Use a microfiber soaked with Dawn to safely scrub the windshield followed by a water rinse and an OEM wiper blade install.

If you kept the original wipers, replace the inserts only. I agree with the above, the OEM are the best wipers I have ever had. I have read somewhere that hopping can be ameliorated by making sure the blade is as close to 90 degrees to the glass as possible. The alcohol treatment/cleaning also works - sometimes.

You could also try buying 2" shorter wipers. Works great in huge snow storms, and in hard rain.

Rain-X made my OEM wipers skip. I took it off a week later. This issue was awhile back.

I agree that I too have had very good success with OEM wiper blades and inserts. I also use a magic eraser along with glass cleaner on the windshield followed by Meguiar’s Synthetic Spray Wax.

EVERY time I have tried non-OEM wiper blades I have been sorry. (Toyota, BMW and VW).

Specify 0000 grade, someone will get on here and actually try to scrub their windshield with steel wool.

It's crazy that I came across this post when I did because I was about to take a wire wheel on an angle grinder to my windshield....

A number of the major detail product companies usually have a glass polish or sometimes they list it as glass water spot remover. Get some of that and go at it with a foam cutting or microfiber pad on a polisher or even a drill attachment if you don’t have one. Dont worry about the glass with a cutting pad, you won’t hurt it like you can potentially hurt paint when polishing. That will super clean the glass and smooth it out. You can then rain-x/coat if you want.

Then get the OEM wiper arms, still the best I’ve ever used and easy to replace the inserts.

I hear you. Was just commenting that it's crazy what some people do to their rides.

I’ve used type 3 many of times. You just gotta be real gentle. But you’re right, I could see someone giving her the ole elbow grease and having some issues.

If all of that did not fix it and if the Barkeepers Friend recommendation does not work, it might be that one of your wiper arms is bent.
