    Hello!

I am seeking an oil pan that will fit my 1st gen: 1995 manual V6 3.4L 5VZ-FE rear-wheel drive Tacoma.

The OE part number is: 12101-62080

I've been trying to find a replacement oil pan for months, without success. Maybe you can help change my luck?!

What has your local toyota parts counter suggested when giving them your VIN number and letting them know what you are looking for?

Unfortunately they are not compatible. I have exhausted every online resource I can find. I called Toyota and, after confirming the part number, told me they no longer manufacture the original part and have no suggestions for finding a replacement other than junk yards.

I even purchased a couple I thought might be able to work, but they do not fit. I wish it was that easy, I would have been done with this months ago.

Toyota confirmed the part number for me and then told me they no longer manufacture it and have no suggestions for replacement part.

I also called a couple of aftermarket vendors (eg Parts Geek) who gave me some "this might work" suggestions based on the vin, but neither of those fit.

The pan I have is flatter and the drain hole is off to one side. Cruddy picture included (I don't have anywhere to jack it up right now, so this is the best I could do at the moment.)

My fault, I wasn't paying attention. Looks like you have a 5 lug tacoma (although I don't see how that would be different since its still a 5VZFE).

I know this sounds crazy, but can you please post a picture of the TOP of your engine. Just the engine bay. Thanks!

No worries! And no idea... It seems to be something that *should* work, but doesn't.

Are you the original owner? Do you know for certain the entire vehicle's history?

Maybe it just me. Or does that look like the oil pan for a 3.0L 3VZ engine with 2WD (same as RWD) that was used in 89-94 model years?

I may be wrong.... of course.... but you would not be the first Tacoma owner to discover they have a replacement engine that isn't what it was thought to be. This would immediately explain all the confusion......

That's why I asked for a picture of the top of the engine. Again, maybe I'm wrong - but let's consider that. :)

No. The short version is the plug is fouled. The long version is in my associated thread.
The medium version: my (former) mechanic claims the plug just "went bad" and I needed a new pan (so he epoxy'd the plug in place). I thought it'd be a simple task, but is proving impossible (and frustrating!).

OMG. I think you may have just solved the problem. Fuuuuuuu... How did I not think of that?!!?

So I'm the second owner, but about a decade ago it cracked a head (no bc of my doing, I promise) and I had a Jasper rebuild dropped into it.

HOLY H*LL I maybe just fell in love with you a little. (Also I feel a little dumb.)

Now I just need to figure out what the engine is - I'm in the middle of moving, but the paperwork is somewhere. (is there a way for me to tell from the engine itself?)

And ugh. I feel like a moron, but think you just solved the mystery. THANK YOU!!!!!

OK - well it is definitely the 3.4L. But I think you may have something very unusual with it being a "HiLux" truck (not actually a Tacoma). Or a HiLux engine.

HiLux's were made until early 1995 when they were re-badged and redesigned as Tacomas

Check out the sticker on your intake....... It is partially covered by a hose. What does that say?

It's less Tacoma and more mod
That pan appears to be pure unobtanium, I can find the replacement RWD pan for a 3.0 which would bolt up but unfortunately I can't find a pickup tube for that pan or you'd have a solution... If you want to remove the pan and send it here I can weld in a new bung and turn it right back around to you good as new though.

You do have a regular 2WD V6 tacoma though with 3.4 I can tell you that much.

Pull your pan and have a new bung welded on. Fairly simple process

How about tapping to an oversized drain plug?

The difference is the 6lug pan is smaller up front to make room for the front diff. the 5lig is shallower to make room for the crossmember.
