Auto Trans slips going to low

I have a 09 with auto trans. My problem, as I reduce speed to make a turn and after coasting through the turn and accelerate the rpm’s go up to 2300 as if in neutral. After 2 seconds Low gear will kick in. My speed on the turn is about 5 mph and this is not a problem from a stop. Any ideas?

 

Well for starters your going throught the Turn entirely too slow. But on a serious not I would try to slow down before the turn and accelerate through the turn. Now I'm not talking about lead footing it through the turn but just keeping a constant amount of torque on the system.

After reading your post again. I would also probably use my above advice while driving to the Dealer to have them take a look at it. offer to take your mechanic for a ride if your not certain he can duplicate it himself.

 

Are you a two footed driver? Reason I ask is most newer vehicles will shift improperly if your other foot is resting/touching the brake pedal while trying to accelerate. The ecu/trans c/u look at the brake light switch for open/closed circuit status. You will notice a slight change in idle/exhaust tone during manuevers once you take your foot off the brake pedal without touching the gas.

 

Thanks for your reply. No I don't use the two foot application but I do understand what you are saying. I could be doing 40 or better and before the turn I let up on the accelerator and apply the breaks to slow down and mid way through the turn I start to accelerate and have nothing for a couple seconds. That is when it go up to 2300 rpms and then low kicks in and the rpms drop to 1200-1400 rpms.

 

The 5 speed auto units in our trucks do tend to lock up the torque convertor early on under light throttle loads. But since you do have a new truck I recommend taking it to the dealer to have them check it out. If you search on here you will see that several were not filled to proper capacity from the factory.
Worse comes to worse, you can always ask to drive another one for comparison while at the dealer.
