Can't buy them through normal means. They were very very limited, cause Meso handmade them, so only a few of them are in circulation.

Only way to get a hold of em is if they ever appear in the marketplace.

    Here's mine:

Had a set. I can attest, they were limited and badass.

My LED boards were slowly giving up, so I sent them back to Stew for repairs. After waiting over 2 years, he swapped them for the Morimoto collab set, which sucked majorly. I eventually pulled and tossed the Morimoto collab and went with his ultimate upgrade in a stock housing.

    I still miss the OG's.

Ye, a good half my LEDs are also shot.
Tempted to open them up and try my hand at replacing the leds. Just have em in storage for now.

Ye... The Morimotos were quite bad...
Never got my replacement for the two sets that both had broken tabs....

Don't bother. I was a very active member of HID planet when he got started with meso customs. I never assisted at all in the design, but he posted many very early progress pictures and prototype examples along the way.

They were an early COB(Chip On Board) design he had custom made by a circuit board company specifically for for the purpose. With the benefit of a couple years of hindsight, I believe a lot of that project had to do do with gathering the business contacts he needed to build the products for his later released led modification catalog.

I'm not saying any of it was good or bad, only that he clearly had a business plan beyond a one-off tail light design, and I believe he utilized his one-off project to assist in his other goals.

If you're not familiar with COB led tech, The led dies are underneath a phosphor layer, and bonded directly to the circuit board. They are not simply soldered, and are manufactured into the PCB.

There is absolutely no way to repair them without damaging something. Gaining access to the led's requires destructive removal of the phosphor layer, which, as near as I can tell, is not available to the public in any form. But if you were to be able to find a batch of liquid red phosphor, it's extremely unlikely to match the color or output characteristics of the original.

    Thank you for the insight.
I remember his post on HID Planet too, i believe the initial designs were made from off the shelf smb leds. Thought he continued to use them for all the hand-built units.

May have to dig up some old post to see if any of the designs clearly show the circuit board up close.

i've been trying to search everything, it looks like the hidplanet site went through a purge, and i'm not seeing what i used to see on most posts... i'm not even finding a connection to meso and hidplanet anymore.

if i just search there for 'tacoma', i get 3 posts. 'tail light', i end up with 21 posts...

between my eclipse led tail retro, and az daves original eclipse tail light retro, there really should be no less than 10,000 results for 'tail light'.
