    Yeah, big old leaky house.
The main part is chestnut logs, with chicken wire and concrete chinking between the logs.
It was originally a hunting lodge.

Pellet stove is the main source of heat, with a ventless propane heater for backup.

I mean, heating oil is around $2.70/gallon and I will probably use $900 worth of fuel this winter. And I keep my heat on 63° on both zones! :spending:

Well, my house is at least twice as big as yours, and I keep the temp at about 77* all Winter.
So it could be worse :notsure:

They ran a natural gas line all long county road 75 which is more rural than mine. I wish they would do that on my road, but probably never will. I thought about a propane conversion, but the math doesn't math at this point.

    yes

and NGL when it gets really cold, I love having a gas furnace + gas dryer
that gas heat knocks the chill outta the air and makes my clothes nice and toasty in a way that electricity just can't

but the windows in particular leak horribly

i keep the house at 66-68 during the winter for the most part; got me some fancy wool sweatpants that work great LOL

had NG in winston and it was great
cheap AF, worked when the power was out
i had a gas fireplace in the basement and when the power went out, you could keep the whole house warm enough with that thing

propane was the only option when the house was built
and that 800gal tank is great backup if we ever lose power for days - got the hose to run the generator off that if need be

There's NG in town which isn't far away, but everyone's water sewer bill is like $500+ a quarter.

Gotta love greed, corruption, and embezzlement that nobody got in trouble for...

Ouch. Hopefully I picked them all up :fingerscrossed:

I usually wear water shoes after finding a toe biter while camping. I'd rather avoid experiencing that one if I can.
At that temp in the winter you'd have to be.

Actually, it's only 77* near the hearth and upstairs.
There are overhead fans in the great room, but...
Being built of chestnut logs with concrete chinking, there are cold spots.
Most of the downstairs and all of the addition are something of a cold spot
