Im pretty sure that the TRD Pro Grill will lower the sensor down a little, but if you get a Chinese one then get an OEM garnish for it, years ago the Chinese garnish's did work.. Its been a long time since I did mine. I am sitting on 35's and 3" lift all together (1" Body Lift is in there too).

I have also lifted a lot of tacoma's over the years and never had any of the installs have any issue in this area either.

They are not alpharex, they’re form lighting

Any grille w/o a garnish can test if the “angles” are off, ya?

if it works and then when you put the garnish on it doesn’t, then you know what the problem is?

I’ve tried two washers, one, and a now trying just the nut.

I’m using the nut and washers to push the bottom of the sensor out and away from the garnish to angle its reflectivity downward a little or a lot - I just spoke to an adsd or asds specialist or whatever - and he agreed to get the grille - and once this sensor is popped - it doesn’t need reprogramming - it need confirmation of being within range - so I’ll have to call him back when the grille is in

There’s your problem. You need to shim the top out, not the bottom.

If we are trying to correct the angle back towards the ground to compensate for a level or squatted truck truck no the bottom would be the spot to space out. If you did the top it would be facing the sky

Either way - without putting the vehicle in reset mode with that Toyota software and a reflector five feet in front of the vehicle, any adjustments can’t be confirmed as within range and the car still thinks there’s an error and won’t wipe the code

So even if any of my messing around was within range - the computer won’t confirm it

Nope no cruise control at all unfortunately :-(

On the flip side, I have a lift and extensive mods. I was able to get the system calibrated but what I ran into was everytime I went off road (very dusty where I live), I would get error messages about the sensor being dirty. Since this is a second vehicle that I mostly take off road, it drove me crazy. That was the reason I wanted it turned off, and it did fix that problem.

You need to understand the sensor is mounted to the rear of the grill.

Looking at the TSS mount discussion in this thread, you do need an adjustable mount to be able to compensate for the different angle of any lifts/mods you have. Here was my solution, and I also put a smoke plexiglass cover over it and it worked great when I still had it hooked up. I can snap a pic on the inside if anyone is interested.

The adas guy I spoke to was very specific about the perpendicular (90°) to the ground nature of the part too
