2002 Tacoma, Toytec coilover. Just curious on how long he can drive like this, is it as bad as we think it is or are we overreacting?

So are we being for real or just sarcastic? The only reason I'm asking is because I know many vehicle's dont run coilovers and instead have the coil and a shock located near it. The Coil looks okay, I guess, so that's why I'm asking.

It's completely trashed. No, he can not drive it like that. Yes, he needs a new coilover, preferably not a Toytec one.

Tacoma suspension isn’t designed like that, coil spring separate from shock.

I just had the same thing happen! Fortunately I already had new shocks & springs assembled and ready to install. I definitely wouldn’t drive it like that. I was able to limp home, but that was it. Was riding on the bump-stop all the way! Can’t believe the bogus replies you’ve gotten. Makes me want to leave this site with those kinds of junk responses.

Just a little polishing compound and some elbow grease on a Saturday morning and it'll buff right out.
(No. Your friend is as cocked up as can be. No driving. Replace BOTH ASAP)

A Dietitian's Pick of the 8 Best Fiber Supplements in 2025

Fiber is essential for healthy digestion, and high-fiber diets are linked to improved heart health.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA)Trusted Source recommends that women ages 19 to 30 years consume 28 grams (g) of fiber per day and men in the same age range consume 34 g per day. Those numbers decrease slightly as you age, but 90% of women and 97% of men don’t meet those numbers.

Fiber supplements are available in many forms to help people who want to increase the amount of fiber in their diets if they’re not getting enough from food.

C'mon man... You know Car and Truck guys are always razzing each other. No ill will. Just folks having a good time with each other and making light of he situation.

You don't need forum members to tell you damage like that can't be driven on.

The 'junk responses' and 'bogus replies' are mildly giving shit for not seeing that and realizing it's a situation that can't (at least shouldn't) be driven on. The OP will learn.

The fact that they 'Makes me want to leave this site' bothers me. What's happened to people in this country? Too many thin skinned. Life's tough. It's not fair either. Get over it. Get over yourself. Laugh at yourself once in a while.

OP came here and asked a question and the first two replies gave the opposite of the truth. You cannot tell sarcasm through written text. How would you feel if OP followed that advice and caused an accident? This forum should be about helping others, not "giving them shit" for not knowing something.

If OP can't look at his shock and know that "jump it" is sarcasm, he's got bigger problems than a shock. This forum is full of individuals who are more than helpful; sometimes, people just like to crack a joke.

Oh good grief. People need to lighten the fuck up and quit being so serious all the time.

How about some personal responsibility? That shock is obviously broken. Are you saying we would be responsible for potential injuries if he chose to keep driving it?

How did we all survive before the internet came along? How did we make decisions? Somehow our parents survived..
