So I found a decent deal on a used 4runner engine that it says it came out of a 2001 4runner. I have a 2002 tacoma that needs a engine haha. Is there any differences between the 2? One thing im noticing in the pictures is it looks like there is a obd2 port attached to the intake? My truck the obd2 is under the dash so will that cause issues? Thanks!Screenshot_20250819_164607_KSL Classifieds.jpg

5VZ are the same throughout the years (Tacoma, 4Runner, T100, and Tundra) except for the graphite head gasket being used in 95.5-00 and MLS in 01-04

The larger metal tube on back top of plenum, not sure what that is, looks like some extra pieces like that came on my JDM engine I didn't use on my 01. Here's a Pic of top of mine currently.20250819_185732.jpg

My 2004 doesn’t have the diagnostic port on the intake.

They are claiming not JDM engines. Here's another one they have that has the throttlebody and a little bit of the intake hose. Screenshot_20250819_185212_KSL Classifieds.jpg

My 2004 has this small metal that doesn’t have a vacuum line connected to each end. Is that normal for a 2004 3.4?

Check the v belt pulleys they should be single smaller belts (3). A larger Serpentine type belt ran accessories on the right hand drive van that mine came out of. Except A/C.

That is your pic sorry I used it to show which vacuum tube I’m talking about. Mine is just the tube with nothing connected on each end.

I went out and snapped a picture of mine. I have always wondered about it and I asked a Toyota mechanic he kinda scratched his head and said some came that way.

Another space out, not v belts but 3 smaller in width belts for north America 3.4 engine.
