Lockable hard cases are great, especially if you are mostly on the road.

Question re: panniers and "higher" speeds... When wearing my backpack, speeds above 80 or so often have me weaving a bit in my lane as the wind catches the pack and pushes a bit to one side or the other. Do panniers do this or is that effect nullified by the fact that they are symmetrical?

I've never noticed any adverse effects of having them on and I've got mine on 99% of the time.

Didn't you have an FJR1300 at one point?

Panniers don't really do that unless for some reason you rode with just one side installed. I do notice with the trunk on and no passenger it feels odd on the highway but you quickly adjust to it.

I've never noticed one side or the other catching, but I definitely feel the extra weight and drag when I have them on, especially at higher speeds.

LED bulb installed. I had some cheapos that came out of the Tacoma, and they share the same 9003/H4 bulb. The headlight is annoying to line back up but it's an easy swap.

    Red for racing obviously

I went and did some dirt backroad exploring today, the tdub was made for this. When I left my house it was cloudy, nothing on radar. Then I hit light drizzle, then moderate drizzle, then heavy drizzle. I got soaked so I just kept going. It was still fun. Dirt roads and gravel roads would have been sketchy on the bonneville but the tdub handled it just fine.20250820_125155.jpg

Looked over the side of this little bridge and saw a little waterway.
    20250820_125219.jpg
Bike got pretty trashed from the wet roads.
    20250820_143855.jpg
All part of the break in process. After I hit a 100 miles on it I pegged the throttle to see what the top speed might be, she hit 65 with my 220 lbs on it. I don't usually ride it that fast but it didn't complain.

I got pretty wet and legs picked up some mud too, lol.

Pressure washed the bike, topped of the fuel tank. Did a little over 80 miles today, mostly dirt roads but about 10 miles to get to the country dirt roads. Was a fun day.
    Retirement is good.

No, largest bike I've owned was a naked FZ1. Wind turbulence on that was much worse than on my Triple. Would like to do some longer/overnight rides as the Triple is pretty comfy but i hate wearing a backpack.

Appreciate the feedback from everyone!

I'm so happy I bought it. Triumph Bonneville for the street, tdub for the dirt. Perfect pair for me. The little tdub is just so easy to ride.

I watched a dude on YT put a XT225 motor in one. Thing was pretty slick with the few extra ponies and 6 speed :D

They sure are. Even more surprised that they are taken with her phone. Hell, I need to get out there.

Off topic but what pressure washer you got? Me and the gf have been wanting one so bad to wash our bikes up after ridding on trails.

I only have a s.all electric harbor freight one. I think we paid less than 80 bucks for it. I bring it inside in the winter so it doesn't freeze up. We are on the 3rd year with it. If it crapped out I'd buy another one, it owes me nothing. I like it because it's not ridiculous high pressure so it won't blow into the seals and stuff. It has an adjustable spray nozzle that goes from a pin point to a fan. I also use it to wash the cars, stripped paint off the deck, etc. For a cheapie it's really not bad.
