    Hi all
I have a chance to pick up a 2023 sport with a 7 year 120k km extended warranty for what I believe is a great price. It only has 22k kms on it now…
I am currently in a 2016 trd or which I have had for 9.5 years. I toyed with the idea of trading up to a gen4, but I am worried about the longevity of a turbo 4 banger. i am going to see the truck tomorrow, so is there anything I should be on the lookout for? I have never owned a sport, but have had 3 trd off roads.
    thanks for any advice TW!

The 2023 is the last of the Gen 3 line.
This means all the evolution (read: bug fixes) are applied that will be ever applied.
It also means that spare parts are plentiful in the bone yards after many years of Gen 3 production.
    (Read: Nissan starter motors here).

I won't have a Version 1.0 product of any kind, and that includes the 2024 and newer Tacomas.
    I also won't have batteries.

My new 2023 will be my last truck, unless some fool totals it for me.

Been looking at a 2023 sport with the same klms in New Brunswick but no extended warranty for $51k. Have a 2015 TRD off-road with 78k, it’s starting to nickel and dime me with repairs, new calipers rotors, pads and lines, lower steering shaft and now the AC has crapped out. Mechanic showed me the power steering line while not leaking has the metal crimp rusted off and the transmission lines under the rad where it is clamped on to the frame is almost rusted out. Would also like a newer Tacoma but don’t like this turbo stuff.

I have a 2023 Sport I bought new and it’s been a great truck so far. I currently have 27K miles on it.

I would look for all the same issues that the previous years have had 2023 still has them.

Yeah, I guess that is a fair price. Give her a test drive a quick lookover over for the standard 3rd Gen stuff. There can be some expensive annoyances like the timing cover leak, but they are not death knells.

Seems like a fair price, and warranty until 2030 is a pretty good combination

Sounds ok but even if you can transfer the "extended warranty" they're generally not worth the paper they're printed on.
Generally not a "toyota" corporate warranty.
I wouldn't buy it just for the "extended warranty".
Probably has some actual "Toyota" warranty left.
Check that out ie, 36 months, 60 k km "basic" and 60 months , 100 k km "power train".
    Price sounds "average/ok".

You do know the Sport doesn't actually have any TRD options right? It's basically an SR5 with a hood scoop. No rear Locker, no Crawl Control, smaller rear end, and stiffer street suspension. I know you've had Off Roads, so hope you give it a good test run.

Best of luck, see you around Ottawa!

Soooooo important to get yearly rustproofing with our winters.

Take a test drive. A Sport has a stiffer ride.

I have a 2023 Sport. It has stiffer ride than the OR, but prefer that. I never go off road so it's a non issue for me anyway.

I have a sport dc long bed. I often tow a 2300 pound (loaded) trailer, my jetski and trailer or a 1200 pound utility trailer. That stiffer suspension works better for me.

All good comments… thank you. i off road sometimes but I have never had to use the diff lock… ever. Also never use crawl control, preferring to do it myself. That being said, I thought there were differences to the sr5 besides the hood scoop no?!

When I bought my SR5 I was looking at a basic Sport for 29k. Of course it didn't have that warranty. Seems I'm glad to pull the trigger when I did.

Is that American? I’m in Canada. I have done my research and a 23 sport with a few add ons go for 48-53k!
