oh shit, never even thought about there, always been super intrigued because how much logging land there is and all the roads that means. has basically one of the largest plot of "undeveloped" forests in country from what i have looked into. didnt realize you could rip up there as its pretty much all privately owned

The North Maine Woods is all privately owned woods too, there's a river that cuts through it (Alagash) and that is state run (Alagash River Waterway), but otherwise all that North Maine Woods land is privately owned by logging companies with some random camps on lakes scattered about (mostly hunting). They work pretty well hand in hand with the state to allow people to come in, there are campsites everywhere, etc etc. But the roads are all logging company maintained and they have right of way. You pay entry fees at the gate to go in up here.

Edit to add downers: No bicycles at all, and no motorcycles or dirt bikes at all. Snowmobiles on snowmobile trails in the winter (or brave/drunk souls in the summer), but nothing fun.

Definitely gonna try especially with that price tag haha. The a3 is a pretty solid fit for me but always curious about newer designs

You could easily get all that stuff neatly hidden inside the van!

Interesting that the Sprinter van is rated to tow less. Pretty sure the Transit has a slightly higher tow rating but it definitely handles the weight better due to the chassis and wheelbase.

Good to hear! I did up the pressure about 3 psi on my second ride on them. That made the rolling resistance better but still kept that damp and grippy feel!

    Good eye!!!

Yeah, they're spendy. I ended up with the pro. If you like the fit of the TLD, the Sweet Protection Trailblazer is worth a look. Right up there in the VT rankings, and can be found much cheaper. It's also a good looking lid. I have one I was gifted, really like it, and my wife is on one.
We almost moved up there, twice, about 10 then 5 years ago. Ultimately we got a great deal on the house my wife grew up in, right at the bottom of BCC. We were expecting our first kiddo, and having him grow up in the same house and close to family ultimately made the decision for us.

I’ll have to see if I can find sweet protection nearby. I tried one that should have fit based on sizing guide but did not actually fit. Probably need to try a bigger size.

Helmets are so subjective based on head size and shape. I tried the Trailblazer but it just didn't fit my head. I ended up with a SpeedFrame Pro and really like it.

Probably about time for a replacement, REI is supposed to have Fox on sale for Labor Day. :spending:

I saw this bad boy on marketplace and had to have it $500 well spent, with shipping and everything the man had probably $1600 in it.. Now to sell my Chinese JB rack.

I did take the extension the guy had on it off and can still lower my tailgate with the rack up.:D IMG_5738.jpg

lol, it’s a table. I wouldn’t have bought it myself, but it’s a nice piece of aluminum that would make me nervous to leave on rack unattended.

On the Tacoma for sure, on a van or full size with a taller tail gate it probably tucks behind nicely.

it’s gimmicky, you gotta take the bikes off to use it? What’s it for, the person who doesn’t ride stays back and makes food with it.

I had an Alta rack on my Van for a few years. It’s a super solid rack. The guy that builds them does everything locally in the Salt Lake valley. He’s super knowledgeable, used to build off road equipment for the millitary, but also a bit eccentric.
